Frank’s Story

FoE-Ghana all started with a question. I found a small girl in Buya loitering around. “Why didn’t you go to school today?”

“My mother said she doesn’t have money to buy a book for me,” she replied.

I bought an exercise book and a pencil for her.

I saw the smiles on her face as she was going to school the following day. At that moment, I saw the power and promise that came as a result of given something as little as an exercise book and a pencil to a child to send her back to school.

Since then, I have always donated exercise books and pencils to lower primary children in over five schools to put smiles on their faces and also improve literacy among children in rural areas. These exercise books and pencils have brought smiles on the faces of both the children and their parents especially the mothers who are always burdened with the responsibility of ensuring that their children go to school.

Having gone through the same situation of going to school without learning materials in the village, I was convinced that there was the need for a nonprofit organization that will be committed to ensuring that all rural children are in school and have access to reading and learning materials in other to improve literacy in the rural communities through coaching and guidance.

These are the bases on which FoE-Ghana was founded.

We have come to appreciate the fact that education is a living and with the right encouragement it can lead to something outstanding. We also appreciate the fact that every piece of education is a challenge and every cedi, pencil, exercise book, literacy book and each supporter is indispensable.

We at FoE-Ghana is committed to supporting a society with greater educational opportunities for all rural children and also empowering their mothers to be part of this call. We strongly believe that one day we will have a society where every rural child in Ghana can read and have access to reading materials and both women and girls will also be empowered.
