Play and Learn Foundation

Play and Learn Foundation My star will shine one day By targeting underserved communities, PAL seeks to provide opportunity where it is most needed.

The Play & Learn Foundation (PAL) brings together boys and girls who have a passion for play, a drive to lead, and a desire to pursue academic and professional excellence. Play & Learn engages youth in programming that encompasses football and sport training, academic support, mentorship, and community outreach. We do this by providing access to fun, safe, equipped spaces that are supported by com

mitted tutors, coaches and mentors. Play & Learn works to empower our participants to pursue their passions and achieve their full potential. WHAT WE DO
Our programs focus on academic support, sports training, mentorship, and community outreach to develop both the hard and soft skills our youth need to become leaders in their communities. Academics
Interactive, small-group tutoring sessions focus on English language development, creative thought, and general homework help. Athletics
In Ghana, football is a force that transcends tribal divisions, language, age and other cultural divides. In addition to football skills training, PAL athletics sessions also serves to develop skills such as teamwork, time management and discipline. Mentorship
PAL's Nkonsonkonson Mentor Program matches a select group of adolescents with a local mentor who is able to provide support and guidance in the child's area of interest. Community outreach
PAL partners with other local organizations on community outreach activities. This allows PAL youth to practice respect and tolerance, as well as develop a keen understanding of the importance of community service. DEVELOPMENT PLANS
The Play & Learn Foundation is slowly diversifying programming and expanding to other underserved communities. In due course, PAL will develop programs across Ghana, the West African region and Africa, as a whole. PAL is currently partnering with another local non-profit to bring programming to the Volta region. Development of weekend day programming is also underway, which will be complemented by our Mobile Library project. Programming will also be diversified with the introduction of the Learning on the Go programme, which would engage PAL youth beyond the football field and classroom and introduce them to historic sites and cultural experiences. Additionally, PAL is developing a summer camp to work with youth in a fun, safe and organized learning environmental while they are out of school. Finally, another major initiative for Play & Learn is the construction of a Community Center with football facilities.

A special milestone for us at PAL and the University of Ghana.

This month, we were privileged to host 10 students from the Physical Education & Sports Studies Department for their internship. Our very first interns from the department. This collaboration reminds us how powerful sports and community can be in shaping lives.

We are deeply excited about the future of these interns and the children they’ve impacted.

Over the weekend, we had the pleasure of welcoming to spend his late afternoon with our community and PAL FC children’s teams.

It was a beautiful time of play, learning, and connection as he engaged the children through football, recorded moments with them, and closed the day with music, joy, and high spirits all around.

We are truly grateful for his support towards PAL’s mobile library activities and for sharing his world with us, while also embracing ours in return.

We look forward to welcoming him again soon.

Boys wil not be boys, we as a community must intervene to mentor, discipline and train them into responsible, kind, ambitious gentlemen and community leaders.

That's what the Brothers In Growth (BiG) stands for.

Thank you for making time to share some words of wisdom with these young boys.

Our 🌟 will shine together.

At PAL, we don’t just place students in a community; we invite them to understand it.

Our international social work students from Sweden spent time with the families of the children they teach. Listening, asking questions, and seeing firsthand the realities of everyday life.

To deepen that understanding, they stepped into the shoes of many parents in our community hawking water in the streets. For just 10 minutes, they experienced the hustle it takes to make a sale. They both sold one each.

They began to understand the weight parents carry working long hours just to provide, often leaving little time or energy to support homework or tutoring.

This is what community learning looks like. Not just seeing, but feeling. Not just helping, but understanding.

As they leave Ghana and PAL, we hope this perspective stays with them shaping the way they serve, wherever they go.

As you start your exams this week, we’re proud of how far you’ve come. We know it’s not easy, but this is your moment to show up and do your best.

It’s not about perfection, it’s about growth, effort, and believing in yourselves. This is just the beginning.

We’re rooting for you always.
