No parent plans for a child with a special condition, yet many families find themselves on unexpected journeys of strength and love.
One mother shared how, despite attending antenatal care and taking her medication, she later discovered her child had a special condition after noticing developmental changes.
Her story reminds us of the urgent need for support, understanding, and inclusion.
At Empowered Kids Foundation, we envision a Ghana where every child learns and thrives in inclusive classrooms.

✨Testimonies from Participants After Our Past Skill Training ✨

After our skill training on soap and fabric softener making, participants shared some heartfelt testimonies about their experiences and the impact of the program.
One special educator mentioned that the training will become an additional source of income for him. He expressed his appreciation for the opportunity, explaining that he will use the skills acquired as a source of income alongside his work with learners.

A special needs parent also shared that she had always wanted to learn soap making, and the training was a great opportunity for her. She noted that she learned a lot and will use the skills to support both her child and herself. She further commended the resource person for the excellent teaching style, saying the explanations were very clear and made the entire training easy to understand.

These are just a few of the testimonies shared, reflecting the real impact of the training in empowering individuals with practical, life-changing skills.

Together, we continue empowering special caregivers with practical, life-changing skills. ❤️

Today’s training session with Dr. Kwaku Nyantakyi was insightful and impactful. We were grateful to have 31 participants join the Empowered Kids Foundation session to learn and share knowledge on speech and language development in children.
Dr. Nyantakyi explained the difference between speech (sounds, articulation, clarity) and language (understanding and using words and meaning), while highlighting key developmental milestones and possible causes of speech delay. He emphasized the importance of early intervention and encouraged parents not to hide children with conditions, noting that hiding children is often the first step toward stigma. Instead, children should be supported, understood, and given opportunities to interact and learn.
A heartfelt thank you to all 31 participants for your engagement and commitment to learning, and a special appreciation to Dr. Kwaku Nyantakyi for his valuable time and expertise. Together, we continue to advocate for children to reach their full potential. 🌱

During the discussion, I highlighted our annual free eye screening programme in collaboration with Philta Eye Care, which helps in the early detection of eye conditions and enables timely interventions for school children.
I also acknowledged the efforts of the Government of Ghana over the years in advancing inclusive education, particularly through the Inclusive Education Policy. However, I emphasized the need for increased funding to public schools to ensure the effective implementation of inclusive education. This includes the provision of inclusive infrastructure such as accessible toilet facilities, disability-friendly classrooms, and learning resources like Braille materials, to support effective teaching and learning for all children.
Finally, I made an appeal on behalf of Empowered Kids Foundation to both government and the general public to support our work in creating a more inclusive and equitable education system for every child.
