World Health Day 2026!
The NCD Alliance Ghana proudly joins the Ministry of Health and the global community to mark and commemorate World Health Day 2026 under the powerful theme: “Together for Health: Stand with Science.”

We wholeheartedly align with the strong call by Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, Minister for Health, for science-driven decision-making, enhanced cross-sector collaboration, and sustained investment in research and innovation to improve health outcomes for all Ghanaians.

Our Program Manager, Mr. Solomon Foli, represented the NCD Alliance Ghana at this important launch. He reaffirms our commitment to integrating scientific evidence into the prevention and control of Non-Communicable Diseases, supporting the One Health approach, and addressing both infectious and NCD threats through data, partnerships, and targeted interventions.

We echo the remarks of Dr. Fiona Braka, WHO Country Representative, that Ghana’s health gains have been powered by science and collective action — and that emerging challenges require even stronger investment in research, innovation, and equitable healthcare.
Together, let us stand with science to build a healthier, more resilient Ghana — where prevention, evidence, and collaboration take centre stage.

NCD Alliance-Ghana Engages Ministry of Health, Ghana to Champion Meaningful Involvement of Persons Living with NCDs and Mental Health Conditions

As part of our sustained advocacy to advance the Framework for Meaningful Engagement of People Living with , , and Neurological Conditions, NCD Alliance-Ghana held a pivotal meeting with the Ministry of Health, Ghana.

The Ministry of Health embraced the framework with a proactive stance, committing to champion its implementation and ensure the inclusion of people with lived experience in all health-related forums and boards. This marks a significant step towards institutionalizing patient-centered health systems in Ghana.

During the engagement, representatives of persons living with NCDs shared powerful testimonies of being left behind, misdiagnosed, and stigmatized. Their stories underscored that the WHO Framework is not merely a policy on paper but a vital tool to uphold their , rights, and respect.

The Ministry expressed pride in our advocacy and encouraged its continuation. This collaboration reinforces our shared belief that lived experience is expertise and is essential for designing equitable and effective health policies.

We are optimistic about translating these commitments into concrete actions and fostering a healthcare system where the voices of those with lived experience are at the core of decision-making.

“We have been preaching to the converted for a long time. It is important to bring non-health actors on board because non-communicable diseases affect everyone, not only the health sector.” Every sector bears the burden of NCDs. If each institution can incorporate NCD prevention measures into their policies and corporate social responsibility programmes, together we can significantly reduce the national burden of non-communicable diseases.” stated Labram Musah
