HAMA AMADOU, EMBLEMATIC OPPOSITION LEADER IN NIGER AND FORMER PM DIES AGED 74

Niger’s former Prime Minister Hama Amadou died in a hospital in the country’s capital, Niamey, on Thursday, aged 74.

The cause of death was not disclosed.

Amadou was prime minister on two occasions from 1995 to 1996 and from 1999 to 2007 as well as speaker of Parliament between 2011 and 2014.

The politician unsuccessfully vied for the top seat on three occasions.

As the leader of the Nigerien Democratic Movement for an African Federation, one of the country’s major political parties, which he founded in 2009.

A prominent member of the MNSD party, he founded his own party in 2009, Nigerien Democratic Movement for an African Federation.

The prominent politician went to prison several times during his career. In 2009, he was notably incarcerated in a maximum-security prison after being accused of embezzlement, a case that was later dismissed.

In 2015, he was jailed again in connection with an investigation into an illegal network trafficking infants from Nigeria, a charge he dismissed as politically motivated.

Although Amadou was still in prison, he was cleared to stand as a presidential candidate by the Constitutional Court in the March 2016 presidential election, in which he came in second.

After leaving the country for a few years, Amadou returned to Niger in the aftermath of the July 2023 coup against Bazoum but stayed away from politics until his death.

According to local media reports, the ruling CNSP organised official funerals on Friday morning (Oct. 25). Amadou was then buried, surrounded by relatives and friends, only in his native town of Youri in Niger's west.

Please this "pop the balloon" thing that men and women will line up to choose a date or partner, who invented that?

WE ARE ALL EXPOSED.

Yesterday, I had to go do something at the British Council, as I waited I joined an ongoing program organized by MENAYE BUSINESS CLINIC themed “Navigating Finance for Growth”
The focus was on helping women doing business to streamline their businesses with properly identifiable business models, legal frameworks they need to know and access, banking and finance opportunities available for them and other alternative financing networks they can tap into to grow their businesses in Ghana.

As a business owner still navigating various opportunities to take my business to the next level, I found it very educative, enlightening and privileged to have bumped into such a program.

As I walked to sit, a gentleman smiled at me and said “I know you somewhere” and I smiled back nodding. Not long after I sat down someone tapped my shoulders and sat beside me. I turned and it was a sister in Christ, Gifty Annan She said “I was standing at the gate, turned and saw your hair and knew it was you” It’s been a while since we met so we catch-up briefly. Not long after I got a WhatsApp text from a sister Catherine Antwiwaa Boateng “Are you at British Council”, I replied “Yes” and also asked her “Where are you”. She laughed and said “I’m at the customer service.” Then she sent me a screenshot of all the WIFI’s available on her phone and boom “VAMG RESEARCH INSTITUTE” was there. She wrote “Your WIFI exposed you” She even added a picture of her as concrete evidence. We met later at the customer service and did some catching up and I was so happy because it’s been a while since we saw in person.

As I woke up this morning to do my normal daily bible reading, The Bible flipped to Hebrews 4:13 which says:

“NOTHING IN ALL CREATION IS HIDDEN FROM GOD’S SIGHT. EVERYTHING IS UNCOVERED AND LAID BARE BEFORE THE EYES OF HIM TO WHOM WE MUST GIVE ACCOUNT” (NIV).

My memory just rolled back to yesterday. After reminiscing, I concluded that whatever we are doing, wherever we are going and whatever we are engaged in, “WE ARE EXPOSED TO GOD.”

In essence, Hebrews 4:13 reminds us that God is all-knowing and all-seeing. We are transparent before Him. We will be held accountable for our lives. What no man knows and sees about you is EXPOSED TO GOD.

May we be encouraged to Live with integrity and authenticity. Recognize that our actions have consequences. Seek to please God in all aspects of life. Be mindful of our accountability to Him, and most importantly WATCH OUR BACK because we may never know WHAT WILL EXPOSE US. The world can expose us in many ways and with God, a second is too long. Blessings.

OPPORTUNITY CAN BE INTENTIONAL OR SPONTANEOUS: JUST BE SMART.

I was a translator on a research project in 2020, just before the COVID-19 outbreak. My job was solely practical and ended on the field, with no data collection or report writing. I was just to follow the foreign researchers wherever they went and interpret the English into Twi if a respondent could not understand them.

2 days later, after we returned to our hotel rooms one of the foreign researchers on the team emailed me some documents to fill out. It was a situational report which was supposed to be done by the Local Researchers.

I got curious. This was not part of my job requirements, but instead of emailing the foreign researcher back, I called the country coordinator and made my enquiries. I spoke my Ghana English mixed with Twi very well, so we could both understand the situation.

He said “You are smart as they told me. One of the professors said you engage well with the respondents so she recommended you are upgraded to local researcher instead of just a translator.”

I thanked him, returned to my room, filled out the situational report carefully and emailed it back. Apparently, since I was not part of the trained local researchers, they were not sure of my competence so intentionally sent me the report to fill out and assess me for the upgrade.

For the rest of the project period, I worked as all the other local researchers while still doing my translation job. At the end of the project, I went home, being paid 9 times what I signed up for.

“Opportunity [they say] come but once”, I believe otherwise, to me, an opportunity is always available, just be intentional, spontaneous and smart.

DIVORCED MEN SHARING THE MOMENT THEY KNEW THEY WOULD WALK OUT ON THEIR SPOUSE - WOMEN COME AND READ.

1."She disrespected my mom. You can’t disrespect Mama—that’s an automatic double technical foul, and you’re outta here."

2."The moment I realized that I was more exhausted at the thought of going home to spend time with my spouse than I was after a full day of work in a particularly a physical, dangerous job was heartbreaking. My sanctuary was my life-threatening job, not my spouse."

3."She never treated my dog well. One day, he bit her. She told me it was her or the dog. Guess which relationship ended that day? My loving, eight-year best friend of my life or my marriage? Yup!"

4."Two moments told me the future was in trouble. The first one was when a career opportunity presented itself. When we talked it over and I mentioned that a move to another city was a possibility, her response was, 'You’ll move by yourself!' The second time was while we were discussing final burial arrangements. I mentioned that I would like to be buried near my father in a rural 100-year-old cemetery. Her response: 'You’ll be buried by yourself!' No conversation, no 'What’s your thinking?' No discussion."

5."I was in my late 30s and embarking on a major creative project I had wanted to do for years. We had been married for more than 10 years at the time. She was assisting me with the project when I snapped at her out of nowhere. My outburst had nothing to do with the content of her statement, and, in fact, it took me years to realize why I blew up. Clingy isn’t a great word, but it sort of applies. She always wanted to do everything together and got offended if I said I was 'helping' her rather than 'doing it with' her. I snapped that day because some part of me felt like she was taking a 'me' thing and making it a 'we' thing. I knew things were irretrievably broken after that. In hindsight, I realized that the only way we 'solved' anything as a couple was for me to make a sacrifice. At that point, I felt like I had nothing left to give."

6."The day my wife told me my primary love language of physical connection was dysfunctional and not equivalent to her love language for emotional connection was painful. From her perspective, I was just looking to get laid and always had the option to pleasure myself. Yes, because every time I do that, I feel so much closer to her."

7."She told me she never loved me. She said she loved the way I treated her and her daughter and that she said yes because she thought she’d fall in love with me over time."

8."After almost seven years, mostly living separate lives—including separate bank accounts and filing taxes separately—I had to figure out how to get home after a business trip when my truck broke down three hours from home. Her reasoning was that it was easier for me to figure out how to get home than for her to put our two young kids in the car to come get me. I hitchhiked two hours in the opposite direction of home. Her family met me and gave me a ride to the airport to get a rental. I made it back just in time for our daughter’s birthday."

9."My ex-wife and I were in marriage counseling, and she canceled an appointment. I told her she should reschedule when it was convenient for her. She never did, and I asked for a divorce three weeks after the canceled appointment."

10."One of my favorite groups was going to be in town for a concert. I asked my wife if she wanted to go. She said no, but I bought an extra ticket just in case. Two months later, as I was getting ready to leave for the concert, she decided she wanted to go. I was happy and pulled out the extra ticket. While at the concert, I felt like it was a perfect night and a beautiful experience. I was glad she was there to experience it with me. Halfway through the concert, she got bored and wanted to leave. I told her to leave, and I would catch an Uber. She insisted I leave with her. During the grand finale, she pushed past me, walked to the end of the row, and stood there glaring at me until the song and the concert ended. I thought, 'Never again will she be present if I know it’s going to be a beautiful experience.' But life is all about sharing peak experiences with those you love. I knew it was over."

11."When I found out she was cheating with my best friend."

12."I had signed a really nice contract, and we were doing well financially, better than ever. She always seemed to use it as a token during small fights. The final straw was after a night of drinking when she taunted me for 'thinking I was big because I made all this money now.' I had gone after the money to buy us a nice property to raise our future kids together. It was a sobering moment, and I knew then what I had to do. So glad we never had the kids."

13."I was about to complete my MBA when I got laid off, and she suddenly questioned why I was going to school because 'we' had to pay for half of the semester bill out of pocket instead of the company paying for it. I supported her when she was doing her graduate degree. I finished my MBA, divorced her, and successfully built a business for the past three years. This nice lady (mother of my boys) became a brick around my neck. Sad!"

14."We married very young in a small Midwest farm town. Two kids and nine years later, we were living separate lives. I drank, she didn’t, no s*x, and she called me every night at work to chew me out. I wanted to move (her family lived one mile away). She refused. I offered to go to couples therapy, and she refused. I knew right then it was over. After I left, our entire social circle begged me to stay with her. Walking away was the best decision I ever made."

15.And finally, "After years of marriage, the weight of our differences finally became too much to bear. The love we once had was slowly eroded by time and unresolved conflicts. My wife and I grew apart, our conversations turning into arguments and our home into a battlefield of resentment. The final straw came when I discovered she had been struggling with issues she never shared with me—secrets that revealed how disconnected we had become. I tried to help, but the walls between us were too high, the distance too great. I realized that staying together was not only harming us but also the future of our family."

Former Vice President Dick Cheney, one of the most prominent Republicans in the last half-century, announced Friday will be crossing party lines this election and voting for Vice President Kamala Harris, contending former President Donald Trump "can never be trusted with power again."

"In our nation’s 248-year history, there has never been an individual who is a greater threat to our republic than Donald Trump. He tried to steal the last election using lies and violence to keep himself in power after the voters had rejected him," he said in a statement.

"As citizens, we each have a duty to put country above partisanship to defend our Constitution. That is why I will be casting my vote for Vice President Kamala Harris."
