Kwame Akoto and the heritage tour sparked cultural awareness through storytelling, drumming, and the talking drum, which was inspired by the Unfolding Cultural Heritage project.

An immersive, interactive experience that brought tradition to life—and one worth repeating.

Day 2 of FiMA took us on a powerful cultural journey to the Nkyinkyim Museum, Ada Foah. 🇬🇭✨

Surrounded by thought-provoking installations and rich symbolism, participants—both children and parents—stepped into a deeper exploration of heritage and identity. Led by Kwame Akoto and the Nkyinkyim Museum team, the day unfolded through vibrant drumming and dance sessions, where rhythm became a language of connection, expression, and tradition.

A standout moment was the captivating folktale reading of “Adventures of Ankama, the Hunter & the Drum”, shared in English, Ewe, and Akuapem Twi. This beautiful multilingual storytelling brought authenticity to life, immersing the children in the richness of Ghanaian oral tradition.

And to our amazing partners—Narelle Atiase, Eric Agyare, The Revival, Iamadinkra, and Enam Sape—thank you for your continued support in bringing this vision to life.

A heartfelt appreciation to our incredible facilitators, Kizito Amartey (Artist/Cultural Practitioner, NCC) and Yayra Agbofah (Founder, The Revival), for guiding and inspiring every moment.

"Decolonising Heritage: Ghanaian Creatives Lead International Project in Lecce, Italy"
On , a review of the project "DECOLONIZING HERITAGE. PRACTICES FOR A LIBERATION OF THE IMAGINARY” - made last December in Lecce, in the spaces of the CASTROMEDIANO thanks to a close collaboration between the Polo Library-museum of Lecce, KORA, the non-profit organisation Artlife Matters born in Ghana in 2019, Puglia - Coordinamento Regionale di ICOM Italia and Istituto Culture Mediterranee.

"Until the lion tells his story, the hunter is always the hero".

PACT - Polo Arti Cultura Turismo Regione Puglia Puglia Culture - Strategia e Sviluppo Regione Puglia Provincia di Museo Castromediano - Lecce

Guided by this principle, a groundbreaking international collaboration between Ramdom, Museo Castromediano, and Artlife Matters brought Ghanaian artists and cultural practitioners to Lecce, Italy, for a powerful programme dedicated to decolonising heritage and liberating the imagination.

Totem is a sculptural embodiment of memory, identity, and ancestral resonance. Anchored in soil sourced from the motherland, Ghana, and adorned with six textile narratives arranged in a half-circle—each referencing distinct African cultures—the work stands as a bridge between past and present, between the lands we come from and the worlds we now inhabit. Every textile pattern carries its own story of lineage, movement, and resilience, collectively forming a vertical archive of diasporic experience.

Presented as part of Echoes of Home, this artwork extends the workshop’s core themes of belonging, heritage, and the lived realities of migration. The totem becomes both witness and guide, inviting viewers to reflect on cultural dislocation while celebrating the enduring strength of African aesthetics and traditions.

This body of work seeks to spark debate about our heritage and how colonial influence has shaped—and in many ways tainted—our uniqueness. The exhibition invites viewers to reflect, decolonise, and reimagine their heritage, regardless of geographic location.
