In Memory of Those We Lost…

The twelve Air India crew members have been officially identified by the airline among the 241 lives lost in the tragic crash of Air India Flight 171. The Boeing 787 Dreamliner, en route from Ahmedabad to London Gatwick, went down shortly after takeoff on June 12, 2025, crashing into a residential area near the airport. The incident marks the first fatal crash involving a Dreamliner and leaves the global aviation community mourning the loss of dedicated professionals.

Air India Flight 171 Crew Members

Pilots:

1. Captain Sumeet Sabharwal – 55, Powai, Mumbai
One of Air India’s most experienced 787 commanders, remembered for his calm leadership and decades of safe flying.

2. First Officer Clive Kunder – 26, Mangalore
A young and promising pilot from an aviation family with over 1,100 hours of flying time.

Cabin Crew:

3. Manisha Thapa – 27, Patna
Formerly with IndiGo and Akasa Air; known for her professionalism and charm on international routes.

4. Kongbrailatpam Nganthoi Sharma – 22, Thoubal, Manipur
Recently joined Air India in April 2023; remembered for her bright spirit and dedication.

5. Maithili Moreshwar Patil – 22, Nhava village, Maharashtra
A proud first-generation flight attendant supporting her family; had joined Air India two years ago.

6. Irfan Shaikh – 22, Pimpri-Chinchwad (Pune), Maharashtra
Ambitious and kind, he had just begun his aviation career two years ago.

7. Shraddha Dhavan – 44, Mulund West, Mumbai
A senior crew member with 21 years at Air India, respected and admired by generations of colleagues.

8. Aparna Mahadik – 42, Goregaon East, Mumbai
A committed crew leader and fitness enthusiast, known for her discipline and compassion.

9. Deepak Pathak – 36, Badlapur, Maharashtra
A veteran of 11 years with Air India who always put safety and service first.

10. Roshni Rajendra Songhare – 27, Dombivli, Maharashtra
A rising travel influencer and cabin crew professional, engaged to be married.

11. Lamnunthem Singson – 24, Manipur
A newly recruited crew member full of hope and energy, just starting her career.

12. Saineeta Chakravarty – 35, Santacruz West, Mumbai
A former Go Air crew member who had recently transitioned to Air India with experience and pride.

Meet Captain Anya Kearns...

Anya Kearns became a pilot at the age of 17. At the age of 31, she became the second African American female captain at Delta, USA. She is currently on the Boeing 737 fleet. Anya is also a qualified Air Traffic Controller and holds a Bachelor's degree in Flight Management.
