We are structured to reduce illiteracy among children through formal and informal education within the rural communities in Ghana. We provide formal education which includes programs such as special classes for academically weak pupils, ICT, Maths, English and Science Class while the Informal education will include program designed to educate street children to acquire the required competency and
skills in numeracy, literacy, problem-solving, analytical thinking and reasoning in order to function as physical, social, intellectual, moral and emotional human beings. The organization forms partnerships with local school districts,religious bodies and Traditional authorities to mobilize children to be trained in the comunity. Greem is a organisation whose programs are in direct response to the growing number of Children that are either falling through the cracks at school or are already entangled with the lack of access to school because of poverty. The goal of the program is to identify children who are going to have a turbulent transition to adulthood and offer positive support system to avoid the pitfalls that can derail their lives. The focus is slightly different at each level but the goal remains the same; educate and empower the children to make positive changes in their lives. During that time the students and tutors participate in weekly planned activities, which include learning in the classroom, playing together, touring and many more, this helps to strengthen the relationship between the two, improve the children confidence and hopefulness and also build them academically. Volunteers, tutors and mentors receives continuous training throughout the year and participate in monthly meeting to report the children’s progress and their experience. Ghana Rural Educational Empowerment is gradually creating a learning environment that is a valuable resource to children, aspiring mentors, tutors and the community at large.
