This Women’s History Month, we’re honoring the Women of Birthright AFRICA who shape stories—and shift narratives. 🎬✨

From the court to the culture, Hoops, Hopes, & Dreams highlights powerful storytelling in motion. And we’re proud to celebrate one of its producers, Alexys Feaster—a visionary leader and member of the Birthright AFRICA Executive Board.

Her work reminds us of the power of creating, leading, and connecting stories across the diaspora. 🌍

Stream both Hoops, Hopes, & Dreams, and its Storytellers Spotlight on Hulu/Disney+!

Happy Black History Month! ✊🏾✨
This year marks 100 years of Black History, and we’re honoring our ancestor—“The Father of Black History”—Carter G. Woodson. A lifelong scholar and educator, Woodson ensured the world would know the powerful contributions of Black Americans.

At Birthright AFRICA, we call that a Legacy of Innovation. By connecting Black youth to their heritage, we’re continuing that legacy into the future and cultivating pride in the next generation of Black global leaders. 🌍🧡

On MLK Day, we honor a global legacy. When Dr. King traveled to Ghana to celebrate its independence (March 6, 1957), he witnessed the power of nonviolent resistance and a people reclaiming their future. That moment affirmed what he believed—and what Birthright AFRICA carries forward today: our connection to Africa, our history, and our liberation struggles are deeply intertwined, and reclaiming that connection is an act of resistance and perseverance.

Today is the last day of Kwanzaa, Imani (faith).
For 2022 Black Highway Birthright Alum Imani, that faith showed up in unexpected ways—through familiar food, shared culture, and the warmth she felt in Ghana that reminded her of home in the Dominican Republic.

As the first in her lineage to return to Africa, her experience is a powerful reminder of how connection, memory, and belonging can travel across generations.

As we close out Kwanzaa and step into the new year, we carry that faith forward.
✨ Happy Kwanzaa ❤️🖤💚 & Happy New Year 🎉 from the Birthright AFRICA Tribe!

We’re also celebrating over $5,000 raised from Pioneer Supporters of the Birthright Passport Fund! ✈️ You can still help fund passports for the next generation of Birthright Scholars—support the Passport Fund today (🔗 in bio).

The 2nd Principle of Kwanzaa, Kujichagulia (Self-Determination), is the power to define purpose on your own terms.
Witness Kujichagulia unfold in this life-changing moment between 2022 Black Highway Birthright Cohort Alum, Joye Pate, and , Host of the Black Highway Cohort, at in Ghana.

Birthright AFRICA’s mission is to empower young people of African descent to define who they are—and who they’re becoming.
You can still join the mission and help fund passports for the next generation of Birthright Scholars. ✈️
