Who we are. What we do. How we do it. And. Why you should join us.
We are a youth-led legal education initiative founded to bridge the gap between the law and the ordinary citizen, starting with children.
The project was created out of the recognition that although the law governs nearly every aspect of our lives, very few young people understand its principles or their rights under it.
So, LTP brings together passionate law student volunteers who visit schools to educate children on the laws of Ghana, focusing particularly on criminal law, childrenโs rights, the juvenile justice system, and protection against abuse.
Our emphasis on criminal law stems from the fact that, under Ghanaian law, the age of criminal liability is 12 years. This means children from that age can be held legally responsible for their actions, yet most have no understanding of the laws that affect them.
LTP exists to change that in order to ensure that children are aware, informed, and empowered long before they encounter the justice system.
More than 1000 children, in 23 schools, across 10 communities in 4 regions have been reached.
If youโre a law student, passionate about legal literacy and community engagement, this is your sign to join us create impact.
