Building on recent engagements with the Parliament of Ghana, ICED was pleased to participate in an information-sharing session that brought together members of the Parliament of Ghana and representatives from Ghanaian research institutions, think tanks, and civil society organizations to discuss a new parliamentary initiative.

Representing ICED, two of our researchers—Miriam Oppong and Sheila Agyemang Oppong—joined discussions on how research institutions and CSOs can support the initiative through evidence generation, data collection, and citizen engagement to help inform parliamentary decision-making.

The session featured welcome remarks from Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Bagbin, Speaker of Parliament, and Ebenezer Ahumah Djietror, the Clerk of Parliament, followed by panel discussions highlighting the important role of collaboration between government, researchers, and civil society in strengthening evidence-informed governance.

In keeping with our commitment to strengthening partnerships and promoting evidence-informed impact, ICED was pleased to participate in the Evidence-in-Health Conference held this past weekend in Kumasi. The conference was hosted by EAM Consult in partnership with the UNCOVER Applied Evidence Synthesis Programme and Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.

Representing ICED, Dr. Sheila Agyemang Oppong delivered a fraternal message on behalf of the president & CEO, Dr. David Sarfo Ameyaw, highlighting ICED’s shared commitment to strengthening evidence synthesis and promoting the use of evidence to inform health policy and practice in Ghana.

Bringing together researchers, practitioners, and policymakers, the conference explored advances in evidence synthesis, including systematic reviews, artificial intelligence, and capacity strengthening for evidence-informed decision-making.

We congratulate the organizers and EAM Consult CEO Eldad Agyei-Manu, on a successful event and look forward to continued collaboration in advancing the use of evidence for impact.

At the heart of the 9th Evidence to Action Conference and Exhibition ( ) was a simple but transformative idea: building an evidence-informed ecosystem requires collaboration across different forms of leadership.

In the weeks following E2A 2026, the ICED team has continued engaging valued partners and supporters, building on the momentum of the conference and strengthen collaboration across Ghana's evidence ecosystem. From government entities to research institutions and traditional leaders, these engagements demonstrate that meaningful impact is created when diverse voices work together.

As part of these post-conference engagements, the team held two follow-up meetings with the Parliament of Ghana to discuss opportunities for continued collaboration and to express our appreciation for Parliament's participation and support during E2A 2026.

The team also had the privilege of visiting one of ICED's steadfast supporters, Nana Ekua Edugyanmaa I, Nyimfahenmaa (Queen Mother) of Gomoa Assin Traditional Area (pictured in green traditional cloth and golden royal slippers). Her unwavering encouragement of E2A and ICED's public engagements reflects a deep commitment to strengthening communities through knowledge, dialogue, and development. It was an honour to hear her personal reflections and to thank her for her continued support over the years. The visit was a reminder of the important role that traditional leadership and community champions play alongside public institutions in advancing evidence-informed development.

đź’ˇ While we continue sharing reflections from , the conversations sparked at the conference are already translating into action beyond the conference halls.

One of the key goals of the Evidence to Action Conference and Exhibition is to create meaningful connections between evidence producers, policymakers, and institutions working to advance better decision-making. Following the 9th edition of the conference, ICED has continued engaging key partners to strengthen these connections and explore opportunities for collaboration.

As part of these engagements, the ICED team met with the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC) - Ghana to discuss ongoing collaboration, including efforts to strengthen access to research and evaluation evidence to support national development planning.

The discussion, begun prior to E2A, highlighted the importance of building stronger bridges between evidence and policy, ensuring that relevant research and lessons from practice can better inform national priorities.

The conversations didn't end when the conference did. The ideas, lessons, and partnerships sparked at continue to shape how we think about strengthening Africa's evidence-to-action ecosystem.

We're turning the page on another set of , this time hearing from two of our valued partners who continue to strengthen Africa's evidence ecosystem through collaboration, learning, and shared purpose.

As Africa Evidence Network (AEN) highlights, E2A 2026 reinforced the power of partnerships, community, and investment in the next generation of evidence leaders for long-lasting impact. Meanwhile, the African Centre for Development Impact (ACDI) reflected on the importance of honest conversations, sharing not only successes, but also the lessons and challenges that shape meaningful change.

This year's E2A was designed to encourage conversations that would inspire further reflection on the impact of research for influencing policies and transforming lives.

True to its purpose, the conference elicited deep reflections by several of our delegates:

Maama Kwao Akita's daily review of his experience provides a perspective of the full conference week, while Taylor Collins and Bernard Nana Kofi Ampong were both impressed with the emphasis on translating "evidence into meaningful action".

Other delegates like Marie-Noelle O. Nwokolo and Mulenga Ching'ambo, in addition to participating in E2A both behind the scenes and in interactive labs, were impressed by the genuine insights that our honorable public servants shared.
