Learning is more meaningful when we share experiences.

We have successfully completed the first set of training on Effective Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Engagement and Free, Prior and Informed Consent (FPIC) in Mineral Governance in Ghana.

This engagement brings together traditional authorities to strengthen knowledge, exchange perspectives and build the capacity needed to effectively engage mining companies and government institutions.

Together, we can contribute to stronger community participation and responsible mineral governance.

The program is funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office through the Forest Governance, Markets and Climate Programme (FGMC) and also supported by the European Union in Ghana through the project. We believe that Effective participation starts with knowledge.

The training has helped better understand the roles and rights in mining-related decision-making and how they will help the community participate effectively in consultations and engagements relating to mining projects.

Stronger knowledge can support more informed participation in mineral governance.

and partners are grateful for the support of the and the union in Ghana through the BRACE project.

📢 Mining should bring development, not destruction.

Yesterday in Awaso, Nature & Development Foundation and partners A Rocha Ghana and sat down with community members, local chiefs, and government agencies to break down the National Action Plan on Business and Human Rights developed by CHRAJ.

Through the BRACE Project, our goal is simple: ensure that big businesses make their income without harming the people, polluting the water, or ruining local farms.

What we discussed:

How companies must respect human rights.
Giving communities a voice to stand up for their rights.
How businesses and communities can thrive fairly side-by-side.

Development is great, but human rights and dignity always comes first! 🌱🇬🇭

A day of shared commitment to restoring Ghana's forests. 🌳

As we bring the Month of the Tree for Life (June) to a close, we are excited to share this glimpse of the official launch of the Ghana Forest Restoration Grant Scheme at the Subri River Forest Reserve. It’s a beautiful way to end a month dedicated to nurturing and protecting our environment.

The event brought together partners, government officials and communities to mark the beginning of an important journey toward restoring degraded landscapes across Ghana.

The highlight features remarks from the Western Regional Minister and representatives of the European Union in Ghana, commision ghana and the European Forest Institute (EFI), reinforcing the importance of collaboration in restoring forests and supporting community livelihoods.

Nature & Development Foundation is proud to be part of this initiative and looks forward to making a lasting impact with the communities we serve.

Locally led hashtag works best when communities learn from each other.

Peer-to-Peer exchange helps practitioners:
👍 Avoid repeating costly mistakes
🧠 Share what actually works (and what doesn’t)
🫂Adapt solutions to similar local challenges

It was so insightful to be part of Peer-to-Peer.
Together, we are growing a locally driven restoration movement across the continent.

These moments from the Subri River Forest Reserve reflect the power of collaboration and our shared commitment to restoring Ghana's degraded landscapes. 🌳🤝

The team was honoured to join community members, government officials and partners for the official launch of the Ghana Forest Restoration Grant Scheme, funded by the European Union in Ghana and implemented by European Forest Institute (EFI) through the EU Sustainable Forest and Cocoa Programme.

Through our project, Adopting Agroforestry to Catalyse Landscape Restoration of the Bono East Region in the Transition Zone of Ghana, our objective remains to support 4,200 farmers to restore 1,700 hectares of degraded forest land while strengthening community resilience to climate change, food insecurity and poverty.

Together, with Vision Ghana, Goshen Global Vision-GGVn (GGV) and we are restoring landscapes and improving livelihoods.
