SISS was founded in 1998 by Dr. Ansah-Koi, who was inspired to create an environment for those who sought to better their entrepreneur endeavors. By enhancing employable skills, individuals may be able to start their own businesses and/or take what they have learned and apply it to future ventures. The organization has been sponsored by Comic Relief, a funding organization in the UK, CIDA, Canadia
n International Development Agency, and Ghana AIDS Commission. SISS has collaborated with many organizations including Amnesty International, a partnership in which they served the residents of the slum Agbogbolshie in human rights and advocacy, Marie Stopes International, Planned Parenthood Association of Ghana, and many others with the intention of educating individuals on the subjects of: reproductive health and human rights education and also the prevention of domestic violence.
