You will see them move beyond their comfort zones and gain a sense of real achievement and self confidence. We also hope it changes your world - you will be a

mazed at how great our young people can be and The Head of State Award programme is a perfect tool to connect with them. As a non – formal educational programme, the Award plays a vital role in providing opportunities for young people to develop essential life skills, complementing their formal education. This enables them to grow in confidence and in their ability to contribute meaningfully and positively to their communities. Its success is evidenced by the fact that it has spread to over 140 countries and territories. Over 180,000 young Ghanaians have learnt of the value and importance of self – discipline, independence and perseverance, overcoming challenges and discovering hidden abilities, through a graduate series of diversified activities of the Award programme. This makes young people become more matured with a sense of responsibility which will help them throughout their lives – at work and at home. By gaining an Award, they become more mature with strong sense of responsibility and commitment and as a reliable and useful member of the community. It embraces a very wide range of adventurous, cultural and practical activities which young people may choose to participate voluntarily in their own time, under the guidance of trained adult leaders and volunteers. The programme encourages young people to go out and experience the world around them, to provide voluntary services to others, to train physical strength through sports, to develop a spirit of adventure and discovery, to develop personal interest and social skills.
