Before every surgery, during every moment of care, and long after every smile is restored, our nurses remain a constant source of comfort, strength, and compassion.
Today, we celebrate the incredible Operation Smile nurses who walk every step of the journey with our patients.

This week, Operation Smile Ghana hosted an impactful Biomedical Training focused on strengthening technical capacity and improving surgical care delivery across healthcare facilities.

The training was led by Operation Smile Ghana’s Biomedical Team under the leadership of Ing. Joseph Agbemenu, with the presence and support of SSA Biomed Lead, Ing. Robin Whittal.

Through hands-on sessions, equipment maintenance training, troubleshooting exercises, and collaborative learning, participants deepened their understanding of the critical role biomedical teams play in ensuring safe and effective patient care.
As part of the training, participants also took a field trip to the Biomedical Engineering Lab at the University of Ghana Engineering School, where they gained further exposure to medical equipment and practical knowledge aimed at building their capacities for impact in their various hospitals and healthcare institutions.

Operation Smile remains committed to investing in capacity building and empowering healthcare professionals with the skills and knowledge needed to strengthen healthcare systems and transform lives. 💙

As part of our commitment to capacity building and sustainability of comprehensive cleft care services, we partnered with 8 countries for the Sub-Saharan Africa Series in Koforidua, Ghana.
Together, we created 47 new smiles and strengthened the skills of over 20 care providers across the region laying the foundation for lasting impact.
We are deeply grateful for the partnership of the Eastern Regional Hospital and DHL, whose support made it possible to deliver these life-changing services.
To our incredible volunteers, we say ayekoo thank you for the smiles, the dedication, and the hope you continue to build.

During our most recent surgical program in March, we were visited by the Operation Smile Club student volunteers in Lincoln Community School. Led by the club’s executives, they assisted patients to receive care and also presented 40 smile bags to the children who received surgery. Smile bags go beyond gifts, they contain hope , love and a reminder that a cleft condition doesn’t make one different or less human.
We are inspired by the service, commitment and kindness our students continue to show. That is what student empowerment is all about.

We are happy to to share that we successfully completed our 33rd surgical program in Korle Bu , Accra.
We restored the voices of 44 cleft palate patients with speech difficulties and renewed their hope of communicating effectively.
We are grateful for the participation of our local volunteers and international volunteers from Sweden. Operation Smile Sweden has been of tremendous help , partnering with us on the Speech Dream Project for the past 5 years and we have created smiles and restored voices for over 200 children and adults.
