SUCCESSFUL LAUNCH OF THE 85TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION AND 18TH SPEECH & PRIZE-GIVING DAY
The 85th Anniversary Celebration and 18th Speech and Prize-Giving Day of Ebenezer Senior High School was officially launched on Saturday, 16th May 2026, at the school premises amidst a vibrant atmosphere of unity, pride, and renewed commitment towards the development of our cherished alma mater.
The historic event witnessed an impressive turnout of old students from various year groups, school authorities, stakeholders, and distinguished guests. Present at the occasion were the Chairman of the School’s Board, representatives of the Member of Parliament for Ablekuma West, Honourable Rev. Kweku Addo, executives of the Ebenezer Old Students Association (EOSA), staff, students, and friends of the school.
In his welcome address, the Chairman of the School’s Board, Mr. Aryee, underscored the significance of celebrating the school’s 85-year milestone. He reflected on the school’s remarkable journey through various phases and challenges over the years, emphasizing the institution’s immense contribution to national development through the many distinguished individuals it has produced.
He further commended the unwavering support of old students towards the growth and development of the school, particularly in improving teaching and learning conditions.
Mr. Aryee revealed that the school is actively pursuing boarding status, which he believes will significantly transform the institution and enhance academic excellence.
Delivering his address, the Headmaster, Mr. Emmanuel Anagah, expressed profound appreciation to old students for their consistent support and commitment to the advancement of the school. He particularly praised the refurbishment of the Headmaster’s bungalow by old students, noting that it has, for the first time in many years, enabled the Headmaster to reside on campus.
The Headmaster also outlined the school’s strategic vision of upgrading Ebenezer Senior High School from Category C to Category B within the next five years, and subsequently to Category A within an additional two years.
He indicated that achieving this ambitious target would require significant infrastructural expansion and modernization.
Among the urgent needs highlighted were:
Refurbishment of all science laboratories;
Reconstruction of the school’s canteen;
Completion of the Visual Arts Block; and
General upgrading of facilities to meet the standards required for Category B status.
Mr. Anagah further disclosed that a team of inspectors from the Ghana Education Service (GES) had recently visited the school to assess its readiness for possible inclusion in the World Bank-supported school development programme.
He therefore appealed to old students to continue supporting the school and urged the association to consider undertaking a major legacy project as part of the anniversary celebrations.
Goodwill messages were delivered by representatives of the 1973, 1976, 1984, 1994, and 2001 year groups. Speaking during the event, Dr. Addo Bruce advised students to remain focused on their academic pursuits if they desired to achieve success in life.
The various year groups also reaffirmed their commitment and support towards a successful anniversary celebration.
The President of the Ebenezer Old Students Association, Mr. Henry Vanderpuije, in his address, expressed gratitude to the school authorities and old students for the collaboration and unity demonstrated towards the celebration of this important milestone.
He called for greater unity, dedication, and active participation among all year groups to help advance the vision of the association. He further assured the school community of EOSA’s commitment to supporting the long-term vision of transforming Ebenezer Senior High School into a Category A institution.
The representative of the Member of Parliament for Ablekuma West, Mr. Kobby Miwornunyuie, officially unveiled the 85th Anniversary logo and formally launched the celebration on behalf of the MP.
In a speech delivered on behalf of Honourable Rev. Kweku Addo, the MP reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the growth of the school. He disclosed ongoing plans to establish a basic school within the institution as well as construct an 18-unit classroom block to improve infrastructure and academic delivery.
