RUGBY RISING PLAY

We introduced Rugby to South Labone Girls Technical Institute with 42 participants

Training session was led by Madam Rafatu Inusah, President of Ghana Rugby Football Union, who doubled as Coach, assisted by Eagles Players Jamila Awal, Matilda, Matiti and Asana.

The girls were taken through basic ball handling, passing and catching, and scoring at the school premises.

Amazing energy! The future is bright. 🇬🇭

Tackling Breast Cancer Together: Health, Community & Rugby! 🏉🌸

On Saturday, October 10, the Ghana Rugby Football Union (GRFU) partnered with the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) Women’s Commission at the University of Ghana Rugby Stadium to mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Around 150 participants— including national players (The Eagles), educators, youth, and community members from Nima and Madina — joined us for a day focused on preventive health and fun.

Highlights from the day:
🎀 Free Screening & Education: Led by Nurse Grace Essien (Greater Accra Regional Hospital - Ridge / Head of Medic, GRFU & World Rugby FAIR Educator) and Ms. Wilhelmina Kassah Atutornu (Wilekas Massage / World Rugby L2 Medic), emphasizing self-exams, risk factors, and the key message: “Early Action, Better Outcome.”

T1 Rugby Fun Tournament: Four teams battled in World Rugby’s inclusive, non-contact format for 1st to 4th place.

Community Games: From Lime & Spoon and Bottle Flip challenges to an exciting Sack Race — with GRFU President Ms. Rafatu Inusah joining in on the field!

🍜 Refreshments & Rewards: Indomie mounted a tent and cooked fresh, hot noodles on-site for all participants, plus drinks and pastries served by Ghana Rugby. Gift hampers from Sunda International (Softcare), Kivo, Indomie and GRFU for winners, volunteers and ground staff — everyone went home with something!
