Building capacity through action — over two impactful days.

Stakeholders from Tema New Town engaged in a 2-day workshop that combined theory with hands-on practice. After the learning sessions, they headed to the beach for a cleanup and marine litter sampling exercise, using the Ocean Eye app to collect real-time data.

From understanding the issue to actively contributing to solutions, participants strengthened their skills and took ownership of protecting their environment. 🌊

💡🐟 PROTEGO – Prevention of Marine Litter in the Gulf of Guinea is a 3-year initiative (July 2024 – June 2027), funded by the German Federal Ministry for Environment, Nature Conservation, and Nuclear Safety.

Following our theory session, participants from Tema New Town are now ready to step into the field and collect real citizen science data using the Ocean Eye app.

Through the PROTEGO Project, we’re building a community that can monitor and protect their own environment.
