Throwback to an unforgettable milestone! πŸ₯³

On November 9th, 2013, the B.A Social Work Class of 2013 and M.Phil. Social Work Class of 2013 from the University of Ghana celebrated a major achievement! They graduated from the University of Ghana, Legon! πŸŽ“

The University of Ghana Social Work Alumni Association is pleased to recognise the advocacy work of our esteemed alumna, Ms. Benedicta Larko Ossom.

Ms. Ossom's thought-provoking Social Work Unpacked Series on LinkedIn rightly serves the purpose of social work and is already making undeniable impact on social media.

On account of this, we are pleased to present to Ms. Benedicta Larko Ossom this Citation of Honour in recognition of her advocacy work.

Ms. Benedicta Larko Ossom received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Social Work with Sociology from the University of Ghana, Legon in 2018 and her Master of Philosophy Degree in Social Work from the same university in 2021. She worked as a Teaching Assistant in the Department of Social Work during her national service and also as a Graduate Teaching Assistant in the same department for several years during her M.Phil studies and after graduation.

Through these roles, she taught and mentored hundreds of students. As a result of her passion for teaching and research, she is currently pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Social Work at McGill University in Canada.

UPDATE FROM UG SOCIAL WORK ALUMNI ASSOCIATION!

Yesterday, our Interim Executives Committee (IEC) paid a courtesy visit to Dr. Augustina Naami, Head of the Department of Social Work!

The IEC team who paid the visit were Mr. George Ofosu Oti and Mr. Victus Gyambiby, Programmes Coordinator and Public Relations Officer respectively.

We briefed her on our achievements and plans.

Dr. Naami expressed her support and suggested exciting collaboration and opportunities.

We also discussed the needs of the Social Work Library with the Librarian, Mr. George Antwi and look forward to supporting the library's development!

Let's continue to build a strong and supportive community!

We honour Black History Month and our Black faculty, students, and alumni! Today we highlight Dr. Festus Moasun, Assistant Professor in the School of Social Work. Dr. Moasun is the co-chair of the EDID Committee in the school and just lead the recent EDID Student Discussion Forum. His drumming talents are spectacular and the sheer joy he brings to the school is wonderful.
