Over the past 2 days, the 4th Adolescent Reproductive Health Summit, organized by the National Population Council, brought together key stakeholders to deliberate on the theme: “Reducing Teenage Pregnancy and Preventing HIV among Young People and Achieving Sustainable Development Goal 3.” As an association tcommitted to advancing the health, rights, and well-being of young people, the Planned Parenthood Association of Ghana (PPAG) was proud to partner with and actively participate in this important national dialogue, ensuring meaningful youth engagement throughout the summit.

Key Actions from the Comminique presented at this Summit Include;
✅ 1. Increase funding and availability of youth-friendly sexual and reproductive health services, including contraceptives and HIV prevention commodities, particularly in rural and underserved communities.
✅Institutionalize Reproductive Health Education in all basic and secondary schools, ensuring it is taught consistently nationwide rather than left to the discretion of individual institutions.
✅ Establish formal structures for youth representation on national committees and decision-making bodies responsible for adolescent sexual and reproductive health policies and programmes.
✅ Allocate dedicated funding to support youth-led organizations, such as the Youth Action Movement (YAM), to scale up peer education, community outreach, and social media advocacy on SRHR issues including teenage pregnancy and HIV prevention.
✅Develop and enforce accountability mechanisms, including regular public reporting, to track progress on existing commitments under the National Population Policy, the Sexual and Reproductive Health Policy for Young People, and the National HIV and AIDS Strategic Framework.
