Yesterday the self proclaimed exiled “ Prince” Reza Pahlavi was in Berlin to meet his fellow Zionist Iranians but he left wearing tomato juice on his blazer.
One is tempted to call it undignified. But dignity requires legitimacy, and Pahlavi carries neither a mandate nor a constituency, only a surname and a grievance that European capitals have been indulging for four decades at the expense of Iranian sovereignty.
Let us be clear about what this man was doing in Berlin. He was not representing Iran. No election produced him. No popular movement sent him. He arrived, as he always does, as a lobbyist for foreign intervention dressed in the language of liberation, urging Western democracies to take a “firmer stance” against Tehran. In a plain language, he wants more sanctions, more pressure, more suffering for ordinary Iranians. He even found time to criticise the US-Iran ceasefire. A man with no country to lose, objecting to peace on behalf of people who did not ask him to.
The German federal government, to its credit, did not receive him officially. He met political figures and addressed microphones. He was not invited to the table that matters. The tomato juice arrived before the legitimacy did.
As usual the Western press will frame the demonstrator as an aggressor and Pahlavi as a victim. That inversion deserves examination. The son of a Shah whose Savak secret police tortured dissidents into silence, now presenting himself to European parliaments as the face of Iranian democracy, is not a victim of political violence. He is a symbol of the old order seeking restoration through foreign lobbying because it cannot achieve it through Iranian consent.
The Islamic Republic has many critics. Some of them are genuine, principled, and Iranian. Reza Pahlavi is something else entirely: a dynastic claimant bankrolled by exile politics, performing opposition for Western audiences who confuse familiarity with legitimacy.
He waved to supporters and got into his car. The tomato juice dried. Nothing changed.
The Iranian people will determine Iran’s future. Not Berlin , Not US , Not Zionists ,
Not a blazer stained with Passata politics.
