Young People's Development Think-Tank

17/08/2026

For some young people, it's not about having it all. It's about having enough to take care of the people who matter most.

But sometimes, the biggest barrier isn't just what we have or don't have. It's the belief that we have enough within and around us to make that dream possible.

As we keep the youth celebration spirit going this month, let's keep making space for the dreams young people are building, and the mindset shifts that can help turn them into reality.

🚩 Know the signs. Don’t just push through the pain.

Endometriosis can look different from person to person, but some symptoms are worth paying attention to, including severe period pain, heavy or irregular bleeding, pain during s*x, fatigue, and pain when using the toilet during your period.

Having these symptoms doesn’t automatically mean you have endometriosis, but they’re worth discussing with a healthcare professional.

đź’ˇ Tip: Keep a record of your symptoms and cycle. A symptom diary can help you and your healthcare provider spot patterns and support diagnosis and management.

Not every painful period is “just part of being a girl.” 👀

MYTH: Severe menstrual cramps are normal.
FACT: Mild cramps can be common, but intense or persistent pain that disrupts school, work, or everyday life deserves attention.

It could be a sign of endometriosis or another underlying condition. Don’t normalise the pain. Listen to your body and seek medical advice. 🩸

Quality reproductive health education helps young people understand their bodies, make informed decisions, avoid misinformation, and confidently seek the right care when they need it.

That’s why through the Sustainability Development through Quality SRHR Project, we are bringing the conversation to the streets of Asene Manso Akroso District with a 2-Day Community Float on Quality Reproductive Health Education!

Come with your questions, bring your friends, and let’s walk, talk, learn, and break the silence around SRHR because the right information gives young people the power to make informed choices.

The journey to a Cleaner Wa begins with informed young people!

As part of the Clean Green Wa Project, our young changemakers engaged students in an interactive conversation on plastic waste, sanitation, and environmental responsibility, equipping them with practical knowledge to make informed choices and inspire positive action in their schools and communities.

By empowering young people to become champions for a cleaner environment today, we are helping build a more sustainable Wa for tomorrow.

♻️ Plastic waste isn't just pollution, it can also become a source of income, innovation, and opportunity for young people.

In last week’s episode of the Clean Green Wa radio discussion series, our young changemakers explored how recycling and responsible waste management can create greener opportunities while contributing to a cleaner Wa.

Together with our guest, Minkaillu Silinba, CEO of 3N Silinba Waste Utilization, we discussed practical solutions such as waste segregation and ecobricks, demonstrating how simple actions can transform plastic waste into valuable resources for communities.
