Today on our Sustainability Leaders Spotlight, we feature Dr. (Mrs.) Ellen M. Hagan, Founder and CEO of L’AINE HR, a participant of the United Nations Global Compact, whose more than three decades of work in human resources reflect a commitment to developing talent and creating opportunities👏

Dr. (Mrs.) Ellen M. Hagan is a leader in human resources in Ghana. She is the founder and CEO of Ghana’s leading HR firm with over 30 years of impact. She is also a co-founder of Legacy Girls College, the nation’s only all-girls private school offering both Ghanaian and British curricula. She established Nsoromma, a mentorship program for African women aged 25–40 to help them find a balance in career, their faith and family. Her accolades include the 2025 CEO of the Year (Human Resources), the Legacy & GADIA State Award, and 2011 CIMG Marketing Woman of the Year.

She is a published author, a fellow of the CIHRM, President of the Human Resource Service Providers Association of Ghana, Vice President of the Bible Society of Ghana and a board member of several institutions. Dr. Hagan’s work connects professional development, education and support for women across different stages of life.

🌍 Recap of Day 2 at the 5th African Business and Human Rights Forum 2026 in Senegal!

Yesterday, our Program Manager, Ms. Rhoda Adwoa Boateng, moderated the panel session “Embedding Human Rights in Africa’s Green Transition: The Social Dimension of the Just Transition,” highlighting the importance of placing workers, communities and vulnerable groups at the centre of Africa’s green transition 👏

The panel brought together:

- Mrs Gloria Opoku Anti, Executive Director, Primary Cluster – Environment & Sanitation Group, Jospong Group of Companies

- Ms. Lerato Chaba, Ethics and Anti-Bribery & Corruption Officer, Development Bank of Southern Africa (DBSA)

- Mariagoreth Charles, Founder, JENGAKNOWLEDGE

- Mr. Ali Saidu, Managing Director/CEO, SALID Agriculture Nigeria Ltd

The session explored practical approaches to human rights due diligence, workforce transitions, meaningful community engagement and access to remedy, guided by the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights.

Mrs Gloria Opoku Anti’s participation brought Ghanaian business experience to the dialogue, drawing on her background in environmental sanitation and workforce management 👏

🌍 Recap of Day 1 at the 5th African Business and Human Rights Forum 2026 in Dakar, Senegal!

Our Program Manager, Ms. Rhoda Adwoa Boateng, is participating in the Forum on behalf of UN Global Compact Network Ghana, joining stakeholders from across Africa to explore practical ways to advance responsible business practices.

A key discussion on Day 1 was the session on “Business Perspective on Integrating Human Rights and Environmental Due Diligence” organized by the United Nations Global Compact. The important takeaway was that policies must translate into everyday practices that protect people and the environment💡

Bringing a Ghanaian business perspective to the fireside chat, Mrs. Mrs Gloria Opoku Anti, Executive Director, Primary Cluster – Environment and Sanitation Group, Jospong Group of Companies (JGC), illustrated how this starts at the frontline. She highlighted how a waste management driver’s work, for example, contributes to public health, environmental protection and community dignity.

The panel discussions moderated by Stephanie Iwunze highlighted practical priorities for businesses:

✅ Ensure employees know how to access and use grievance mechanisms.

✅ Assess progress through outcomes for workers and communities.

✅ Embed human dignity, safety and well-being into operational decisions.

✅ Support SMEs and suppliers with accessible tools for due diligence.

For us at the UN Global Compact Network Ghana, these conversations reinforce the importance of helping businesses turn human rights commitments into meaningful action across their operations and value chains.

On 22 September 2026, the UN Global Compact Network Ghana joined UN Global Compact Network Nigeria and UN Global Compact Network Caribbean to co-convene “Redefining Influence, Accelerating Action: Co-Creating Africa and the Caribbean’s Next Chapter for the SDGs” on the sidelines of UNGA81 in New York ✅

The convening created space for business, government and development leaders to explore how stronger partnerships can unlock finance, advance climate resilience and support responsible, inclusive value chains across both regions

Our Executive Director, Mr. Tolu Adjapon, contributed to the opening remarks and moderated the Catalysts of Change panel, guiding an exchange on health cooperation, bankable projects and climate finance.

The panel brought together a high range of c-suite executives which featured Mrs. Florence Adei Ohene, Deputy Managing Director of Consolidated Bank Ghana LTD 👏 Her participation brought a Ghanaian banking perspective to the Africa–Caribbean dialogue and highlighted the importance of financial institutions in advancing sustainable development

For our Network, co-convening this dialogue reflects our commitment to connecting Ghana’s private sector with international opportunities for collaboration, learning and sustainable investment. It also placed Ghanaian business perspectives within a wider conversation about how Africa and the Caribbean can help shape and deliver the next chapter of sustainable development 💡

From Top 5 To Global Winners - A Proud Moment for Ghana! 🏆

Team GRAINFINITY of Jospong Group of Companies has emerged as the global winner of the SDG Innovation Accelerator for Young Professionals pitch at the 2026 United Nations Global Compact Leaders Summit in New York! 🌍🏆

The team, Samuel Mensah, Juliet Gbate and Francis Tutu-Yeboah, competed against fellow Top 5 global finalists from China, Kenya, Nigeria and the United Kingdom taking Ghana all the way to the top 🔝

Their journey began here in Ghana through the SDG Innovation Accelerator for Young Professionals, where they developed and refined their sustainability solution through months of training and innovation camps before presenting at the Ghana Local Solutions Showcase.

Following the local programme, Team GRAINFINITY was selected among the Top 5 teams globally, earning the opportunity to represent Ghana and pitch their solution at the UN Global Compact Leaders Summit during UN General Assembly week in New York. And now, they are GLOBAL WINNERS! 🏆

This achievement is a powerful demonstration of what happens when young professionals are given the platform, skills and opportunity to transform bold ideas into solutions for the Sustainable Development Goals 🤝

👏 Congratulations to Team GRAINFINITY and Jospong Group of Companies on this outstanding achievement.

A huge congratulations also goes to Duke Adomako Oppong, the team’s Mentor, and Betty Brown Nyadu (CMC, ChPA), their Champion, whose guidance and support were instrumental throughout the team’s journey from the Accelerator programme in Ghana to the global stage in New York 🤏
