🎉 Here are some highlights from our 2026 SDG Innovation Accelerator for Young Professionals Camp 1 which took place yesterday, at the Foreign Service Institute in Accra.

The SDG Innovation Accelerator for Young Professionals camp focuses on young professionals from diverse organizations which aim to mainstream SDG innovation, leverage the program participants – and future business leaders and decisionmakers – to become advocates and working practitioners of SDG innovation and to spread this practice across their companies at all levels ✍

This year, our Round 3 participants include B&P ASSOCIATES, Lawyers & Consultants, L'AINE HR, KEK Insurance Brokers Ltd., Margins Group, The Ghana Chamber of Mines, AngloGold Ashanti Ghana, AngloGold Ashanti Iduapriem Mine, Consolidated Bank Ghana, Jospong Green Transition Office, Ghana Manganese Company Ltd., Atlantic Catering and Logistics Limited and Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund (GIIF).

Our first session was the Challenge Identification session where the young professionals (also known as Innovators) shared their personal sustainability journey amongst themselves to better understand one another’s journeys. This also allowed them to explore the Sustainable Development Goals they were more aligned to 🌍

They also identified potential social and market risks and opportunities through the SDGs and discovered how achieving the SDGs can affect several industries. They worked on framing their SDG business challenge using the tools and methods they learnt through the on-demand sessions to create the basic concept for this challenge.

This cohort is indeed ready for action.

We look forward to working closely with the teams to drive innovation and strengthen sustainable business practices. Thank you to all our Innovators, Champions, Mentors and Facilitator for making the first camp of the 2026 SDG Innovation Accelerator for Young Professionals a success 👏

🔊 The conversation on gender equality continues!

While the world marked International Women’s Day, the work of closing the gender gap must go beyond a single day.

At UN Global Compact Network Ghana, we remain committed to supporting businesses to advance gender equality in leadership and the workplace.

In this video, our women reflect on what International Women’s Day means to them and offer ways to advance gender equality at the workplace. These reflections remind us that closing the gender gap requires intentional action from businesses every day.

⏰ As the conversation continues, join us tomorrow for our Bridging the Gender Gap Webinar at 10:00 AM, where we will explore practical actions that companies can take to strengthen gender inclusion and leadership representation.

🔔 Ringing the Bell for Gender Equality

The UN Global Compact Network Ghana joined partners and stakeholders at the 2026 Ring the Bell for Gender Equality event, hosted by the Ghana Stock Exchange in partnership with the IFC - International Finance Corporation and in collaboration with UN Women, the United Nations Global Compact, the United Nations Sustainable Stock Exchanges Initiative, and The World Federation of Exchanges at the World Bank Group offices in Accra.

This event, held under The World Federation of Exchanges' 2026 global theme “Rights. Justice. Action. For ALL Women and Girls,” brought together leaders from the financial, agriculture, fashion and private sectors to explore how capital markets and financial institutions can expand equitable access to finance for women and women-owned businesses.

The discussions highlighted the importance of inclusive financing solutions, stronger consumer protections, and mobilizing capital to drive equitable economic growth.

The keynote speaker of the event, Mr. Tolu Lacroix, Executive Director of the Network stated, “Women have natural loyalty to companies – through nurturing and contributing significantly to the organizations operations and that translates to better growth, stability and high performance across the globe.”

He also noted that as companies continue to strengthen their commitments to responsible business, advancing gender equality in financial access remains critical to building resilient and inclusive economies.

The UN Global Compact Network Ghana is proud to support these conversations and to continue working with partners to advance gender equality and inclusive growth across Ghana’s private sector.
