Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month — Let’s Talk About It
Every year, the world loses far too many men to silence.
The reality (global references):
• Men account for 75% of all su***de deaths globally (World Health Organization, 2023).
• 703,000 people die by su***de every year, with men disproportionately represented (WHO, 2021).
These numbers represent fathers, brothers, students, athletes, and friends.
Too many feel pressured to “man up” instead of opening up.
To all the young men struggling right now:
You are not weak for feeling overwhelmed.
You are not alone.
You are not a burden.
How is GAME and its partners influencing the narrative?
In many tough urban communities, young men grow up surrounded by stress, violence, and limited emotional outlets.
This is where we step in — using sports, safe community spaces, and mentorship to provide essential psychosocial support.
GAME supports young men through:
• Team sports that cultivate discipline, emotional regulation, and peer bonding
• Safe community hubs where boys learn to express themselves without judgment
• Role models and coaches who provide support based on am empowerment model.
• Community belonging, which research shows reduces the risk of depression and su***de in adolescents (CDC, 2023)
For many young men, the playground becomes the first place they truly feel seen, supported, and heard.
📢 This November, let’s remind every young man:
Speak up.
Lean on your brothers.
Call your friends.
You belong here — and you are needed here.
