Our playmakers are taking centre stage this weekend!
They’re kicking off a series of community events to raise awareness for this year’s 16 Days of Activism theme:
➡️ “Unite to End Digital Violence Against All Women and Girls.”

Every woman. Every girl.
Every voice. Every space — online and offline — deserves safety, dignity, and respect.

This Saturday, we at Jamestown Community Theatre Centre, together with our partners, will host an engaging community dialogue in GaMashie.

Together, we can create a community where safety is a right, not a privilege.
Let’s unite. Let’s act. Let’s end digital violence — for all women and girls.

Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month — Let’s Talk About It

Every year, the world loses far too many men to silence.

The reality (global references):
• Men account for 75% of all su***de deaths globally (World Health Organization, 2023).
• 703,000 people die by su***de every year, with men disproportionately represented (WHO, 2021).

These numbers represent fathers, brothers, students, athletes, and friends.
Too many feel pressured to “man up” instead of opening up.

To all the young men struggling right now:

You are not weak for feeling overwhelmed.
You are not alone.
You are not a burden.

How is GAME and its partners influencing the narrative?

In many tough urban communities, young men grow up surrounded by stress, violence, and limited emotional outlets.
This is where we step in — using sports, safe community spaces, and mentorship to provide essential psychosocial support.

GAME supports young men through:
• Team sports that cultivate discipline, emotional regulation, and peer bonding
• Safe community hubs where boys learn to express themselves without judgment
• Role models and coaches who provide support based on am empowerment model.
• Community belonging, which research shows reduces the risk of depression and su***de in adolescents (CDC, 2023)

For many young men, the playground becomes the first place they truly feel seen, supported, and heard.

📢 This November, let’s remind every young man:

Speak up.
Lean on your brothers.
Call your friends.
You belong here — and you are needed here.

Did you know that 1 in 5 women aged 15– 21yrs miss school or social event during their monthly period? This reality reported in the 2017/18 Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey (MICS) — underscores how menstrual health directly impacts education and self-worth of young girls in Ghana.

That’s why She Rises exists.
At our 2nd Annual She Rises Conference, themed Mind, Body & Soul, we created a safe, empowering space to support 60+ girls and young women in Accra to learn, grow, and rise together.

The SRC is a proud initiative led by our dedicated Playmakers and volunteers in Ghana.

We’re proud to share the outcomes of an incredible journey of youth development through sports and education in the last 18 month. Our programs continue to empower young people—and we’re especially excited to report a significant increase in female participation, a true testament to the success of our Game Girl Zone initiation in some parts of Accra (South of Ghana). This progress proves what we’ve always believed: when girls and women are given the space and opportunity, they thrive.

A heartfelt thank you to our dedicated Playmakers and our amazing partners YEFL-Ghana and Olympics Ghana.

We're now working to expand Game Zone activities to even more communities across Ghana.
Stay tuned!

We believe that empowering girls begins when boys & men become allies.

We’re proud of our playmakers who completed the 2-day training as Boys for Change (B4C) Ambassadors!

Over the next months, they’ll lead monthly Boys’ Club sessions at 3 GAME Zones Across Accra
📍 Jamestown Community Centre
📍 Nima Youth Cultural Centre
📍 Street Hub, Agege

Guided by our GES approved B4C curriculum, these ambassadors will help boys build self-awareness, reflect on their privileges, and stand in support of their sisters.

Stay tuned for Phase Two: our online advocacy campaign & youth-led podcast series!
