The Diaspora African Forum Youth Empowerment Training Center (DAFYETC) successfully hosted a specialized customer service training for lead trainers of the Ghana Immigration Service yesterday at the Osu Impact Hub.

The session was facilitated by Ms. Brenda Powell, a seasoned expert in service delivery and professional development. The training also welcomed the presence of Ambassador Dr. Erieka Bennett, Founder and Head of Mission for DAFEmbassy for the African Diaspora.

This was more than a standard customer service workshop. The forum was intentionally designed as an exchange platform, bringing together the perspectives of international visitors and frontline immigration officers to foster mutual understanding, respect, and improved service delivery at Ghana’s points of entry.

Key Highlights of the Forum:
- Dual-Perspective Dialogue: Trainers shared operational realities from the immigration side, while experiences from the visitor and diaspora perspective were also presented to highlight service expectations and cultural sensitivities.
- Capacity Building: Ms. Brenda Powell led practical sessions on communication, empathy, conflict resolution, and professionalism in high-pressure public service environments.
- Diaspora Engagement: Ambassador Dr. Erieka Bennett emphasized the critical role of Ghana Immigration Service in shaping first impressions of Ghana for members of the African Diaspora and global visitors, in line with the Year of Return and Beyond initiatives.
- Commitment to Excellence: Participants discussed actionable strategies to enhance visitor experience while upholding national security and immigration protocols.

Ambassador Dr. Erieka Bennett commended the Ghana Immigration Service for its leadership in prioritizing customer service as part of national development and diaspora relations.

DAF Embassy Honors Nobel Laureate Prof. Wole Soyinka with Bridge Builders Award & Permanent Recognition on Supporters’ Wall

The Diaspora African Forum Embassy, under the leadership of Ambassador Dr. Erieka Bennett, Founder and Head of Mission, hosted Nobel Laureate Professor Wole Soyinka today, June 17, 2026 in a ceremony celebrating his decades of literary excellence, intellectual courage, and Pan-African legacy.

As part of the commemorative event, Prof. Soyinka was conferred the prestigious DAF *Bridge Builders Award*, an honor previously bestowed on world leaders and global icons for advancing unity, dialogue, and continental progress.

In a permanent tribute to his impact on African thought and identity, *Prof. Soyinka’s name was engraved on the DAF Embassy Supporters’ Wall*, joining the ranks of distinguished friends and partners of the 6th Region.

The ceremony also featured:
1. *Presentation of the 6th Region Flag* to Prof. Soyinka, symbolizing the African Union’s recognition of the African Diaspora as the continent’s 6th Region.
2. *Presentation of a book “Visions of Africa” by Prof. Kwame Addo*, contributing to the scholarly exchange of the day.
3. *Presentation of Ghanaian chocolate engraved with Prof. Soyinka’s likeness*, celebrating Ghana’s cultural heritage through food and craftsmanship.

The event was attended by DAF Board members, cultural stakeholders, and supporters, all gathered to honor a legend whose pen and voice have shaped Africa’s conscience.

Ambassador Dr. Erieka Bennett noted that Prof. Soyinka’s commitment to cultural continuity, modernity, and truth mirrors DAF’s mission to build bridges between Africa and its global Diaspora.

*Prof. Wole Soyinka Welcomed in Accra; Pays Courtesy Visit to Former President Kufuor, Discusses 6th Region Initiative*

Nobel Laureate Professor Wole Soyinka was warmly received yesterday at Accra International Airport by Ambassador Dr. Erieka Bennett, Dr. Toni Luck, and Ambassador Peprah of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ghana.

Following the reception, Ambassador Bennett and Dr. Luck led Prof. Soyinka on a courtesy visit to former President of Ghana, His Excellency John Agyekum Kufuor.
During the meeting, discussions centered on the 6th Region initiative for the African Diaspora. Prof. Soyinka was briefed on Dr. Bennett’s role in the creation of the 6th Region and the broader vision of the 6th Region flag.

As part of the visit, Prof. Soyinka was also shown DAF Bridge Builders Award given to H.E John Kufuor, recognizing his contributions to Pan-African unity and diplomacy. Other dignitaries present offered remarks and acknowledgment of Prof. Soyinka’s lifelong contributions to African literature, thought, and human rights.
