IDIEM Africa's faith in community as the fulcrum for progress and the achievement of sustainability inspired this expedition to discover the diversity in various Ghanaian communities which guide them in their work, ethics and unity. At Sefwi-Wiawso, the capital of the Western North Region of Ghana, we discovered how local farmers have invested so much in sustaining Ghana’s golden tree - cocoa.

Amazed by their knowledge in agriculture and specialization in cocoa farming, out team collaborated with The Resource Foundation Ghana, who has been the brain behind support for sustainable farming practices. The Resource Foundation identified the need to secure support in terms of education and financing for cocoa farmers to sustain their farms, combat the negative impacts of climate change, and foster collective impact approaches for adaptation and mitigation strategies to promote climate resilience.

We met with the Ghana Education Service - Western Region (GES) in Takoradi to discuss a bold new step: launching the Junior High Schools Climate Debate in partnership.

This isn’t just about competition. It’s about equipping young minds with climate knowledge, critical thinking, and civic power to face the future head-on.

By aligning with GES, we’re working to bring this program into classrooms, calendars, and communities—building a generation ready to lead in resilience.

I-DIEM Africa is in the Western Region today, in the oil city of Sekondi-Takoradi.

We have engaged five potential partners in the areas of youth development, education and advocacy, sustainability, rural development, women empowerment and financial stability.
