Ghana Stammering Association - GSA

Ghana Stammering Association - GSA GSA is the only non-profit organization in Ghana promoting awareness on stammering and offering support to all whose lives are affected by stammering.

People who stammer can attest to how excruciating it can be in finding it difficult just to bring their words out; yet this sensitive issue is given little attention worldwide and none at all in Ghana. This necessitated the set up of GSA, to help people control their stammer and overcome all the negative feelings associated with it. People living with a stammer,if not all, would agree to the fact t

hat the actual problem associated with stammering is the negative feeling such as low self confidence, inferiority complex, fear of speaking in public and so on and so forth. This group offers the platform to speak openly about stammering and connect to other people who stammer as well.Tell us how you are feeling about your stammer and all challenges you have been facing.People who do not stammer can also share the experiences they have had with people who stammer and also help promote the awareness as well.

Camp Dream.Speak.Live-Ghana, 2026

It is time for children and teens who stammer in Kumasi (Ashanti Region of Ghana) to receive FREE stammering interventions.

Ghana's maiden Camp Dream.Speak.Live (2025) positively impacted the lives of many children and teens who stammer in the Greater Accra region of Ghana, especially those in Chorkor and its suburbs.
------------

Camp Dream. Speak. Live. is an annual, week-long camp offered to children and teens who stammer in multiple locations around the world.

The classroom can either build confidence or create anxiety for a student who stammers.
Small actions from teachers and classmates can make a lasting difference. Support does not require special expertise, it requires patience, respect, and creating space for every student to participate comfortably.
When students feel safe, they are more likely to engage, learn, and grow.
Let us build classrooms where communication differences are met with understanding, not pressure.

In many spaces, confidence is often misunderstood as the ability to speak quickly, smoothly, and without hesitation.
For people who stammer, confidence is the courage to express thoughts, share ideas, and participate fully regardless of how speech may sound in the moment.

In everyday conversations, people often try to help someone who stammers by offering advice. While these intentions may be good, certain phrases can unintentionally increase pressure and make speaking more difficult.

Statements like โ€œslow down,โ€ โ€œrelax,โ€ or โ€œtake a deep breathโ€ may seem supportive, but they can draw attention to the speech itself rather than the message. This can heighten self-consciousness and disrupt the natural flow of communication.
