Witnessing an upsurge of interest in organized voluntary activity throughout the world over the past two decades
and realizing the important promise this development holds for the promotion of democracy and the enhancement
of human well-being for any group of people; a group of young men conceived an idea in January 2008 to form
an organization within the La Community of the Greater Accra
Region of Ghana. The core objective is to seek the concern of the people of La and to advocate on their behalf the equitable
distribution of the community’s wealth, among other things. Thus, after careful deliberations and consultations with all stakeholders locally and in the Diaspora, the
“LA CITIZENS NETWORK” (LACNET) was formed on February 28th 2008. LACNET is a registered non-political, non-religious, grouping of the people of La and all persons who
identify themselves as such, and shares in the values, care principles and tenets of the organization.
