🇬🇭 Ghana has had a commitment to free education for decades. But is education really free when families still have to pay for the things that make going to school possible?
Ghana’s 1992 Constitution established the right to free and compulsory basic education. Since 2005, school fees in public basic schools have officially been abolished, and in 2017, the government introduced the Free Senior High School (Free SHS) policy.
And yet, for many families, “free” education does not mean zero cost.
Uniforms. Transportation. School supplies. Other additional expenses.
These hidden costs can still put education out of reach for children whose families simply cannot afford them.
At Maven Heart, we believe that education should not only be free on paper. It should be accessible in reality — regardless of a family’s financial situation.
That is the change we want to be part of. ❤️
You can be part of it too.

Because a child’s access to education should never depend on what their family can afford.
Education should be free. Education should be accessible. Education should be for everyone. 🇬🇭❤️
