Inaugural Africa Inters*x Conference — Call for Abstracts

We’re excited to announce the Inaugural Africa Inters*x Conference (AIMC 2026) hosted by the African Inters*x Movement (AIM) — a landmark opportunity to centre African inters*x voices, research, policy and practice.

Call for Abstracts is now open. We invite researchers, activists, clinicians, community leaders, and students to submit abstracts that advance understanding, advocacy, and rights-based approaches for inters*x people across Africa. Submissions from lived-experience authors and community-led projects are strongly encouraged.

How to submit: Scan the QR code on the flier or visit bit.ly/AbstrInfo for full abstract guidelines and submission details.
Enquiries: applications@africaninters*x.org

Please share widely with colleagues, networks, and community groups. We look forward to building a conference that is inclusive, evidence-informed, and led by African inters*x expertise.

FLASH FRIDAY | Ŋusẽdodo Economic Empowerment Project

Today, we spotlight the incredible beneficiaries of our Ŋusẽdodo Project, who continue to rise with determination and purpose. Both trainees and small business owners receiving support through skills training, education, and financial assistance came together for a powerful Financial Literacy Workshop.

This session equipped participants with practical tools to maximize their income, strengthen their financial decision‑making, and build sustainable businesses. Every step they take is a step toward economic freedom, dignity, and long‑term resilience.

At IPSOG, we believe that when inters*x people thrive economically, our entire community thrives.

Flashback Friday!!

Throwing it back to our maiden Board Meeting in 2025 — a milestone moment where five dedicated leaders came together to strengthen governance, align on vision, and set a firm foundation for IPSOG’s future.

Our Board — Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, Secretary, and two Supporting Members (with the Executive Director as a non‑voting, ex‑officio representative) — will guide IPSOG’s work to advance the rights, inclusion, and well‑being of inters*x and other marginalized communities in Ghana. Board members serve a three‑year renewable term and support governance, resource mobilization, advocacy, and partnerships.
Grateful for the leadership, commitment, and vision that are driving IPSOG forward.

Today, we join the world in marking the International Day of Zero Tolerance for FGM — and we say this clearly:

Inters*x Ge***al Mutilations (IGM) are the same as Female Ge***al Mutilations.
Different words, same harm.
Different justifications, same violation of bodily autonomy.

Inters*x children deserve protection, dignity, and the right to grow into their own bodies without forced “normalisation” surgeries.

Zero tolerance must mean zero exceptions.

Today, on the International Day of Zero Tolerance for FGM, we affirm a truth too often ignored: Inters*x Ge***al Mutilations (IGM) are the same as Female Ge***al Mutilations.
Different names, different justifications — but the harm is identical.

Across Ghana, Africa and around the world, inters*x children continue to face non‑consensual “normalisation” surgeries that violate bodily autonomy, cause lifelong trauma, and deny them the right to grow into their own identities.

Zero tolerance must mean zero exceptions.
Every child — including inters*x children — deserves protection, dignity, and the freedom to decide for themselves.

Throwback Thursday to a moment that still inspires us.

Our community educators—midwives and nurses serving as frontline community health educators—stood side by side with inters*x individuals and a respected traditional leader to discuss why Ghana urgently needs a third s*x marker and inclusive policies that protect inters*x children.

This gathering wasn’t just a conversation. It was a declaration that every child deserves recognition, dignity, and the freedom to grow without harmful interventions or erasure.

Watch the video excerpts below and join us in pushing for policies that reflect the realities of our communities and uphold the rights of inters*x people across Ghana and beyond.

Let’s keep the momentum alive. Visibility is power. Inclusion is non-negotiable.
