GAC Applauds ATTI’s Commitment to Empowering Young Women in Ghana

On Thursday, 19th March 2026, a delegation from Global Affairs Canada (GAC) visited the Anointed Technical Training Institute (ATTI) to engage with participants of WUSC Ghana’s EMPLOY Project.

It was an inspiring moment as the team interacted not only with the school’s management but, most importantly, with the young women whose lives have been transformed through the INVEST Project (2020–2025).

The delegation expressed excitement at witnessing the remarkable progress of these young women, some of whom are now leading departments and training others, including men, in fields traditionally dominated by males.

This visit highlighted the powerful impact of the INVEST Project in advancing women’s participation in high-growth trades. Building on this success, the EMPLOY Project will continue to create more opportunities, equipping young women with practical, market-driven skills for sustainable livelihoods.

Special commendation goes to ATTI for its dedication to breaking barriers and opening doors for young women to thrive.

Together, we are shaping a future where skills, opportunity, and inclusion go hand in hand.

Partnership in Action! 🤝✨

Yesterday, +E WUSC Ghana celebrated , bringing together partners, volunteers, and staff for a day of reflection, inspiration, and celebration.
The event was a powerful testament to the International Development Week theme: "Prosperity through Partnerships"
Our partners didn't just tell us about their progress and incredible contributions of WUSC Canadian volunteers, they drew us a picture (literally!). Moving beyond standard reports and verbal testimonials, to the use of 'Picasso-esque' illustrations and visual storytelling to map out the tangible growth and resilience sparked by the support they’ve received from WUSC volunteers, testing of innovative gender responsive and inclusive ideas through the Partner Innovation Fund, and the positive growth and voice of selected young persons from their organizations participation in WUSC International Seminars.
It turns out our partners are just as talented with a marker as they are with a project plan!

Stay tuned! 📢 Because one day wasn't enough to capture all the amazing impact stories from our partners and volunteers, we will be featuring the individual impact stories of our partners and their program participants in the coming weeks.

Thank you to all our partners and volunteers for your commitment and contributions to the care of the many vulnerable youth and communities you serve.

209 youth graduate under the ACTIVATE Project to Boost Ghana’s Agricultural Employment.

With the mandate of reducing unemployment particularly among Ghana’s teeming youth, the Akenten Appiah-Menka University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development (AAMUSTED), Asante Mampong Campus, on 30 January 2026 hosted a landmark graduation ceremony for the first cohort of the ACTIVATE Project’s short courses.

209 young agri-entrepreneurs, predominantly women (86%), along with 10 persons with disabilities, were celebrated for successfully completing a 12-week intensive, market-driven training programme aimed at strengthening Ghana’s agricultural sector.

The graduation marked a significant milestone for the Accelerating Change Through Innovation in Agricultural TVET (ACTIVATE) Project, a five-year initiative implemented by World University Services of Canada (WUSC) with support from the Mastercard Foundation. The project seeks to promote a gender-responsive and inclusive agricultural training system that equips young people with employable skills, enhances resilience, and supports sustainable livelihoods.

Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Benjamin Aboagye Danso, Project Coordinator, disclosed that the three-month programme, which runs from August to November 2025 focused on hands-on, practical training. The modules covered Post-Harvest Handling and Food Processing, Livestock Health Management, Non-Traditional Agriculture Production, and Vegetable Production and Primary Processing.

According to him, the programme was designed to respond directly to market needs while empowering participants with entrepreneurial and technical competencies to create employment for themselves and others within the agricultural value chain.
