It’s been 3 years of the Step-Up journey with many setbacks, challenges and successes working on a women-led social program in Jamestown and Agege - Dansoman and we are excited to take another step forward. ✨

The new space will be operated by the women cooperative and will showcase batik workshops and handmade products created by the women as they build practical skills, confidence and opportunities for sustainable livelihoods.

We’re getting ready to open our doors. Stay tuned!

A new journey in fashion, creativity, and skills development has begun. Get to know the talented women joining the latest Step-Up programme as they take their first steps towards turning their ideas and ambitions into reality. 🧵✨

💭 So, what are the participants hoping to gain from the programme?

Here’s what they had to say:

From resilience to visibility. 💛🧵

We are incredibly proud that Step-Up project was selected as one of the few enterprises to showcase its work at the Fête Nationale Celebration hosted at the Mövenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra.

Behind every handcrafted bag, garment, and textile product is a story of courage, determination, and collective action by young women.

Step-Up is more than a cooperative. It is a movement of young women who are challenging barriers, investing in their own skills, and creating opportunities for themselves through fashion, textiles, and entrepreneurship. Built from the ground up, by the people and for the people.

Their journey reminds us that sustainable development begins with investing in local talent, strengthening communities, and believing in the potential of women to lead change.

We are honoured to see their work recognised on such an important international platform and remain committed in celebrating their resilience and further opportunities.
Here’s to every woman who dares to dream, create, and lead. 💚

Our Jamestown graduates are getting TVET certified 🥳 and stepping into the cooperative! What’s next? After months of planning and training, the Step-Up program is going to be piloted in the Agege community, launching its first batik training programme while our 4th cohort in Jamestown is just getting started.

It’s been a long journey, and we sincerely thank all our supporters over the years (we can’t mention all your names), but we deeply appreciate you all!
