Today in Koforidua, the Ghana YMCA is creating new opportunities for young girls through a hands-on Stick-On Nails Training Programme under the Stronger Y’s Project, supported by KFUM Sverige YWCA-YMCA Sweden.

Led by professional nail technician Belinda Narkie of , participants are learning practical techniques for designing and applying stick-on nails. The interactive session allows them to practise their skills, express their creativity and explore the potential of nail artistry as a small business or source of income.

This initiative contributes to the World YMCA Vision 2030 Pillar of Meaningful Work by providing young women and girls with practical skills that can promote self-reliance, entrepreneurship and sustainable livelihoods.

The Ghana YMCA continues to invest in skills-development opportunities that inspire confidence and empower young people to build better futures.

As part of the Stronger Y’s Project, with support from KFUM Sverige YWCA-YMCA Sweden, the Ghana YMCA organised a Return-to-School Stick-On Nails Training Programme for young girls in Mampong.

The practical training was facilitated by professional nail technician Belinda Narkie of , who patiently guided participants through the techniques and processes involved in creating and applying stick-on nails. The young girls also had the opportunity to practise on one another, helping them build confidence, develop their creativity and strengthen their practical skills.

The programme reflects the World YMCA Vision 2030 Pillar of Meaningful Work by equipping young people with relevant vocational and entrepreneurial skills that can support their education, enhance their employability and create pathways to sustainable livelihoods.

Through the Stronger Y’s Project, the Ghana YMCA remains committed to empowering young women and girls with the knowledge, confidence and opportunities they need to thrive.

The Ghana YMCA proudly celebrates our former Western Regional Gender Representative, Abena Brown-Amissah , for her outstanding leadership as captain of Ghana’s National Female Netball Team, the Golde Abena Brown Amissah, for her outstanding leadership as captain of Ghana’s National Female Netball Team, the Golden Maidens.

Under her captaincy, the Golden Maidens delivered two remarkable victories over Côte d’Ivoire, winning 83–2 and 73–6 in their international friendly matches.

Abena’s journey demonstrates the power of discipline, dedication and service. She continues to make the Ghana YMCA family proud while representing our nation with excellence.

Her achievement should inspire every Ghana YMCA member to pursue excellence, embrace leadership opportunities and use their talents to serve their communities and country.

A major highlight of the 23rd National Youth Conference was the election of new National Youth Executives. A total of 23 delegates participated in the peaceful and transparent voting process, demonstrating the Ghana YMCA’s commitment to youth participation and democratic leadership.

At the end of the election, the following officers were elected:

Helmut Okunor Kabu — National Youth Chairperson
Priscilla Entsie — National Youth Vice Chairperson
Ewura Adwoa Awuaa Kissiedu — National Youth Secretary
David Kumah — National Youth Organizer

We congratulate the newly elected executives and wish them every success as they assume their respective positions. We look forward to their leadership, commitment and fresh ideas in advancing youth development and strengthening the work of the Ghana YMCA across the country.

On the third day of the 23rd National Youth Conference, participants visited the Sekondi Naval Base.

The visit offered participants valuable insight into the operations and responsibilities of the Ghana Navy. They toured the base, viewed some naval ships and learned about maritime security, discipline, leadership and national service.

We sincerely appreciate the Ghana Navy for the warm reception and enriching experience.
