Today in many countries, we recognise and celebrate mothers and mother figures around the world.

From supporting families and communities to shaping the next generation, their impact is felt in so many ways, every day.

At the same time, we know this day can feel different for everyone. For some, it may be a difficult day, marked by loss, distance or complex relationships. We hold space for that too.

Wherever you are, and whatever today means for you, we’re thinking of you.

We wrapped up today our Stronger Ys Capacity Building Workshop, held in Koforidua, which began yesterday, 8th May. The training brought together staff and volunteers to deepen their understanding of the project and strengthen our collective impact.

Day one, facilitated by the National Programmes Director of Ghana YMCA, Mr. Samuel Asamoah, focused on connection and trust building through The Power of Personal Storytelling, creating space for reflection, shared experiences, and stronger team bonding.

Today’s sessions advanced collaboration and programme delivery through a partnership-building exercise, an overview of the Stronger Ys Project delivered by Maxwell Kyizagl, and a practical session on Baseline Study and Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) led by Mr. Mensah-Nab Godstime.

This workshop reaffirms our commitment to empowering our people, strengthening our systems, and driving sustainable impact across all levels of the YMCA.

We are grateful to our partners, KFUM Sverige YWCA-YMCA Sweden, for their continuous support in making initiatives like this possible.

🔻 Emelia Chobbah (YMCA Ghana, Fashion-Designerin & Ausbilderin)
🔻 Anita Sheila Serwaa Crabbe (Richterin)
🔻 Sandra Kutzehr (Fachausschuss Weltweit)

As part of this year’s Mother’s Day celebration, we honour our mothers and women by reflecting on the blueprints they used to build the lives we stand on. Together, we will ask:
What parts of that blueprint are we keeping? What are we remodelling? And what are we building from scratch?

Join us for an insightful, practical, and inspiring cross-cultural Roundtable Discussion featuring four exceptional, self-made mothers and role models from the YMCA, held in collaboration with our partner, CVJM-Westbund .

Date: Saturday, 9th May 2026
Time: 7:00 PM GMT /9:00PM CEST
