SOME QUOTES FROM DISTINGUISHED WOMEN AT F**A'S INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S CONFERENCE IN ACCRA.
“Last weeks gathering was a true embodiment of multifaith sisterhood. To be in a space that breathed such intentional life back into my spirit is a blessing I will always cherish. I imagine it to be a moment our ancestors prayed into fruition, and one that I pray future generations will build off"
Kaleemah Kennon Muttaqi US Organizer

SOME QUOTES FROM DISTINGUISHED WOMEN AT F**A'S INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S CONFERENCE IN ACCRA.
“In my Buddhist practice, we say, “Dialogue opens the way.” The women gathered in the room traveled not only miles and hours to get there but also reached across faith traditions, predominantly Muslim, Christian and Catholic, to learn from one another. Together, we discovered the challenges that we face as leaders, namely keeping people engaged and focused on the collective vision of liberation; and establishing, retaining and exercising organizing power in the face of violence and oppression. The Sisters in Solidarity conference created a space of healing, of storytelling, and of power for women in leadership to live into their purpose - achieving global liberation for all.”
Marguerite Leslie Faith in New York (A second generation Buddhist)

UPDATES FROM NORTHERN ZONE LEARNING FESTIVAL!!
We had four Assembly Men in the room. One shared in his report for his group that he had dual loyalties to the F**A team and his role and needing to run for re-election, and I think this opened up a good conversation yesterday. Overall the Northern zone teams seem further along toward winning improvements in their communities but also facing more clientelistic politics. The Busunu team seems to have construction of classrooms after disagreeing with their chief who wanted to focus on a health facility but it is not clear what the path is to getting budget support for making it a technical senior high school. Fian received donated cement from their district officials but they are not in the budget. Gbimsi has a similar story about its water project. People are offered resources on the side or told to do the work themselves but no one seems to yet have a concrete agreement to put their priority in the budget. So we have a lot to work with in Day Two of the Northern Zone Learning Festival in Tamale (RADACH CENTER)!!! Ms Rolanda Mahamah, Mr Prosper Abotzabre, Mr Declan Banoe & Mr Abdul-Gafar Abdul-Mumin are F**A’s able Peer-Facilitators for the Northern Zone with the support of Faith in Action International Organizer, Mr Gordon Whitman.

Congratulations to the FAITH in Ghana Alliance leaders who led and participated in the 2024 Southern Learning Festival. Kudos to the women and men who attended the Training of Trainers retreat in June and turned about and facilitated the Learning Festival three months later. It is powerful to see new community leaders stepping forward and teams laying out plans for health clinics, schools, bridges, sanitation facilities and other concrete improvements in their communities. The Learning Festival was a unique space where new and veteran leaders from multiple religious traditions and background came together to not only imagine a country focused on the development of its people and communities but to make it so.

A SHARED SPACE FOR PEOPLE'S EXPERIENCES IN MULTIFAITH COMMUNITY ORGANIZING
The 2024 Learning Festivals opened for its first segment comprising the Southern Zone, in Koforidua today 19 September. The 2024 Learning Festival will focus on the above theme. The Regions covered are Greater Accra, Western, Central, Ashanti and Bono. 32 Leaders engaged in multi-faith organizing at the community level and covering 12 communities in these Regions attended today's session. They were accompanied by 8 Leaders from these Regions and another 8 Peer-Facilitators who were the main leads with support from Mr. Gordon Whitman from our Partner Organization - Faith in Action International. It is the first time in the series of three Learning Festivals that Local Trainers involved in grassroots organizing played major role to plan the structure and content of the Learning Festival! Two women Peer-Facilitators from Northern Ghana, Ms Rolanda Mahamah (Savannah Region) and Gifty Agyemang-Prempeh (Upper-West Region), are helping out in the Southern Zone as a way of encouraging more Women Peer-Facilitators and Leaders.
The first day was a blend of teaching and experience sharing on Leadership Development and Relationship Building. Everyone seems energized for the second and final day that will do two concurrent workshops to deepen understanding on the Phases of Organizing.
We appreciate the remaining Members of Peer-Facilitators: Dr. Michael Manford (Central Region), Alhaji Shaibu Adam (Greater Accra Region), Benjamin Tettegah (Ashanti Region), Bernard Zan (Volunteer) and Ms Rebecca Nsowaah (Western Region). We missed very much our Colleague Peer-Facilitator - Mustapha Kofi Abban from Western Region who could not attend due to family health issues. Our prayers and good thoughts go out to him and his family.
The 2024 Learning Festival was graced with the attendance of Rev. Jennifer Jones who chairs the Board of Faith in Action International and Madam Iheoma Umez-Eronini who was in Ghana earlier for the International Women's Conference.

THE WOMEN SHARED MUTUAL JOYS AND APPRECIATION.
The women's conference had real emotional moments from testimonies shared. The closing ceremony was the 'icing of the cake'! One of their very Senior Peers in the person of Rev. Dr. Joyce Aryee took the stage and did the honors with the vestments of Traditional Kente Stolls, hugs and kisses! She did this with much passion and religious fervor as if marking the moment of commissioning each recipient on a mission of ORGANIZING! "Women do not just do it, we do it really well", remarked Hajia Adiza Baba Issah who served as the Mistress of Ceremonies and managed the protocol of the event so splendidly.

WOMEN OF FAITH IGNITE A NEW AGENDA FOR ORGANIZING!
The historic gathering of mainly Black Women of Faith in the city of Accra in Ghana, was successfully concluded today on 16 September 2024. Active participants as Moderators, Facilitators, Intervenors, Speakers, Panelists etc comprised Leaders identified as 27 Muslim Women, 17 Catholic Nuns (Sisters), 9 Ordained Women Ministers and 25 other Women of Faith!
"When women conceive of an idea in their minds, it gets done", says the Rev. Dr. Cassandra Gould from the US Black Women's Delegation. "We are holding this historic gathering when both America and Ghana are faced with crucial elections in less than three months time which should re-echo women's agenda", says Hajia Ayishetu Abdul-Kadiri, who is the Chairperson of the Board of FAITH in Ghana Alliance. "Throughout Christian scripture, God's major actions for humanity have been done with women", (Rev. Dr. Joyce Aryee, Founder & President of the Salt and Light Ministries in Ghana). Hajia Fatima Baba Konney, who is a Regional Leader and Organizer from Western Regionof Ghana, emphasized that "Multifaith Women Leaders will take organizing to all Women social and professional networks". Rev. Sr. Regina Ignatia Aflah of the Handmaids of the Divine Redeemer Religious Sisters
, who is also Legal Secretary of FAITH in Ghana Alliance has contemplated "a creative and progressive partnership agenda between Faith in Action International and FAITH in Ghana Alliance with this landmark gathering of Women of Faith".
With this historic convening, FAITH in Ghana Alliance is feeling very optimistic about a 2025 Jubilee Year agenda for Multifaith Organizing which will see many more women leaders building power for social transformation. The overall theme of the Conference, "SISTERS in SOLIDARITY; Women of Faith Building Power for Peace, Development and Social Change", did not end with the closing of this conference but has instead just ignited new agenda for ORGANIZING.

Some Leaders of FAITH in Ghana Alliance Regional Team in the Upper West Region paid a courtesy visit today (12/08/24) on the new Bishop of Wa Diocese, the Most Rev. Francis Bomansaan, MAfr.
The visit was fruitful! Most Rev Francis Bomansaan pledged his support for Multifaith Organizing in the region and beyond.
He said the work of F**A falls in line with his missionary work with a diverse faith groups and people for the development of society. It would be recalled that Bishop Francis’ predecessor, the late Cardinal Richard Bawobr stood for FAITH In Ghana Alliance by his spiritual and theological reflections on leadership and organizing! Bishop Francis’ Episcopal Ordination was just about a week ago on 2nd August! By prioritizing F**A for such an early encounter sends an unmistakable signal of commitment to support people’s organizing and empowerment!
