DON’T LIMIT GOD’S DIVINE BLESSING.
“The blessing of the Lord maketh rich and addeth no sorrow” (proverbs 10:22) emphasizes that true wealth comprising of both material prosperity and spiritual prosperity comes solely from God rather than human efforts. This further indicates that God’s divine prosperity brings contentment and lacks the stress and toil we go through to make wealth. Meaning of “No Sorrow” suggests that wealth (which is the material aspect of God’s blessing) does not bring the emotional, spiritual and the physical challenges and struggles that often accompanies ill-gotten or selfishly pursued riches.
An aspect of God’s blessing that is not quantified is the spiritual prosperity. This includes divine empowerment and the emotional stability which often requires less effort. Divine empowerment represents God’s power to produce wealth by enabling individuals to identify and seize opportunities, making good use of their skills and talents, paying tithes, giving, acquiring knowledge and skills among others. All these are avenues by which God blesses.
The blessing of emotional stability cannot be downplayed. Can you imagine waking up and starting your day mentally sound? Do you know how blessed you are when you don’t need to take any medication to curb mental illness? Do you know how blessed you are when you are able to use the washroom and not depend on other human means to get rid of waste from your body? The blessings of God is not limited materially (money). The gift of good health where emotions are normal and stable should not be taken for granted.
This is not to trash the importance of material prosperity. For instance money is very much essential in our lives. Money is good and makes life easier and very comfortable. As we go about our busy schedules of life, each and every one of us have a desire that God should financially prosper. This is good because we need money to provide our needs and wants. The stress of life can be very overwhelming making it look normal that making money by all means is final. But we should bear in mind that money should be made legally, that you know you worked hard and deserve it. But other questionable means of making money like rituals, gambling etc will only result in emotional, spiritual and even psychological challenges.
It is good to work hard to be able to cater our needs and wants. However, we shouldn’t forget to acknowledge God’s divine provision in our lives because indeed He gives us power to make wealth. He also blesses the works of our hands to make it prosper. Not to forget tithing is another means God blesses immensely. (Malachi 3: 10).
In broader context, it reveals God’s power, presence and provision that transcends borders, culture and location. This is to say that when God decides to bless He is not bothered or bound by location or culture. Anywhere you find yourself His blessing finds you.
