Zion`s New Name is a Non- governmental organization focusing on preventing child labor in our communities. The word “ZION” essentially means “fortification” and has the idea of being “raised up” as a “monument”. As the Bible progresses, the word Zion expands in scope and takes on an additional spiritual meaning. Many times, the discussions on the rich and poor is centered on the rural/urban dichot
omy. The rural areas are associated with high poverty and urban settlements are associated with relative wealth. However, there is a section of the populace that are often forgotten. There are people living in some communities that are located in the urban areas, but experience endemic poverty. Kisseman, Christian Village and Anunmle are communities in the Accra Metropolis. These communities are inhabited by people from different ethnic groups including the Ga - Adangbes, Ewes, Hausa, Dagombas, Gonjas and Kokombas etc. The communities are sandwiched between the plush West Legon residential Area, the University of Ghana and the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration, the Parakuo Estates. Location of these plush areas masked the deep seated poverty and lack of development in the Kisseman, Anunmle and Christian Village communities. Many parents live in kiosks and single unit houses with their children. These buildings do not have enough space and are also poorly ventilated. Unemployment is very high in these communities. Most of the parents are not educated or are not well educated. These hindered their economic opportunities, limiting their abilities to effectively support their children to school. There is no public library in the community. Children are not able to effectively study after school. These factors are able to perpetuate the cycle of poverty within the community unless serious interventions are put in place to improve conditions in these three communities. 2. Library and learning resource center
To ensure that the children learn

to construct a modern library and
learning resource center for the
children in the community. The
center will be well equipped with
books and computers to facilitate
the learning of children.
3. Extra/holiday classes
We intend to organize extra-classes and holiday classes (during the holidays) for the children in the communities to help them pass their BECE and WASSCE effectively. MISSION
The mission of Zion’s New Name is to bring hope to children living in the urban poor communities by empowering and equipping them to meet their educational, physical, and emotional needs in a sustainable way. VISION
Meeting needs and Fortifying hope to the less privileged children and adults in the community. Our Objective
• To assist these children with education and health services, and providing for their physical and social needs.
• To monitor all education related activities of all the children both in school and after school.
• To organize free extra classes and holiday classes for these children to help them to be at par with children from endowed communities.
• To provide counseling services, support groups and pastoral care for such children. Our Core Values:
