Together with our valued partners, SPARK Microgrants, we are currently in the West Mamprusi District of the North-East Region as we intensify efforts toward the planned expansion of the Facilitated Collective Action Process (FCAP) in the area.

Our Director of Community-Driven Development, Nana Ama Nketia-Quaidoo, Project Manager Godfred Osei Nimako, Senior Trainer George Nafiu Mpoah, and M&E Manager Jonathan Komla Agbenyega are working tirelessly to ensure a successful rollout of FCAP in the northern part of Ghana.

Last Monday, the team engaged with the communities of Sandan-Fong and Kukua to assess their readiness and commitment toward the implementation of FCAP.

We remain committed to empowering communities through collective action and sustainable development.

🌍 *Empowering Communities Through Collective Action* 💪🏾

Following the rollout of the Facilitated Collective Action Process (FCAP) across communities in Abuakwa South, Fanteakwa South, Atiwa West, and Nkoranza South, we took time to reconnect with some of our partner communities earlier today. The goal? To engage, exchange knowledge, and assess the real impact of the projects implemented together.

Originally developed and championed in East Africa by Spark MicroGrants, FCAP – known locally in Ghana as “Oman yie die” – continues to inspire community-led development and ownership.

Today, we had the privilege of visiting Apapam, Agyepomaa, Akwabuoso, and Akrofufu. The warm welcome and the impressive depth of understanding demonstrated by community members truly highlight the success and sustainability of this approach.
We look forward to visiting four more communities tomorrow as we continue this journey of collaboration and impact!

Our team, led by CDD Director Nana Ama Nketia-Quaidoo, joined forces with Project Manager Godfred Osei Nimako, Senior Trainer Francis Manu, and Community Trainer So Abapa Boateng for a productive engagement in Nkoranza, Bono East Region.

Together with the national executives of the Citizens Committee Network (CiCoNet), ACA’s advocacy wing, and six Civil Society Organisations (Save Our Environment, Global Youth Innovation Centre, KASA Initiative, Local Government Network, WACAM and A Rocha Ghana), we held insightful discussions focused on advancing advocacy efforts.

The meeting resulted in a clear roadmap toward a nationwide advocacy on the effective implementation of the Minerals Development Fund Act, 2016 (Act 912), reflecting strong collaboration, shared commitment, and a unified drive toward national development.

Last week, we had a very fruitful engagement with the Suhum Municipal Chief Executive,Hon. Lydia Ohenewaa, together with her Coordinating Director, Planning Officer, and other key officials.

We were particularly impressed by the MCE’s level of commitment and her strong interest in ensuring the successful rollout of our Facilitated Collection Action Process (FCAP), popularly known as Oman Yie Die in Ghana.

From all indications, the Suhum Municipal Assembly is fully prepared and eager to partner with us to drive sustainable development while rekindling the communal spirit among the people.

Advocates for Community Alternatives has been closely engaged on the Simandou project and its impacts on affected communities.
We invite you to read this important piece, which highlights a growing disconnect between the national narrative of transformation and the lived realities along the project corridor — including damaged homes, polluted farmland, and grievance mechanisms that are failing to deliver.
With only 3 out of 48 recorded complaints resolved satisfactorily, the need for accountability, transparency, and effective remedy is urgent.
As continues to shape discussions around Guinea’s economic future, it is critical that governance and equitable benefit-sharing remain at the center — and that the voices of impacted communities are meaningfully heard.
We encourage you to engage with the full article and join the conversation.

On March 6, 2026, in Conakry, the NGO Action Mines Guinée presented its annual report on the Simandou iron ore project — and the findings were stark. Across at least three affected areas, the same impacts documented in previous years persist: agricultural land polluted by construction activities,...

Our Facilitated Collection Action Process (FCAP), also known as "Oman yie die", is expanding to more communities this year; and getting even better.

To support a smooth rollout, ACA's team, led by the Director of Community-Driven Development, Nana Ama Nketia-Quaidoo; Project Manager, Godfred Osei Nimako and Senior Community Trainer Francis Manu, is holding strategic engagement sessions with key stakeholders across Fanteakwa North, Abuakwa North, Suhum Municipal, and Ayensuano District Assemblies.

These sessions bring together Municipal and District Chief Executives, Coordinating Directors and Heads of Departments to clarify roles and strengthen partnerships for successful FCAP implementation.

Engagements have already been held in Fanteakwa North and Abuakwa North, with ongoing meetings in Suhum and Ayensuano.

Expanding Impact: FCAP Heads to West Mamprusi

We’re excited about the steady progress in expanding our community-driven development model, FCAP, to the West Mamprusi Municipality in Ghana’s North-East Region.

Earlier this week, a seven-member delegation from West Mamprusi visited Abuakwa South Municipality to gain firsthand insight into how FCAP works. This follows a prior engagement where ACA, Spark Microgrants, and Water and Sanitation for Urban Populations visited West Mamprusi.

Led by ACA’s Project Manager Godfred Osei Nimako, Senior Trainer Francis Manu, and Community Trainer Joseph Obeng, the team toured Kyebi Akwadum, Owuratwum, Addo Nkwanta, and Ahinkwa Sisi. They engaged with community members, observed ongoing projects, and met with officials of the Abuakwa South Municipal Assembly.

The momentum is clear - FCAP is set to extend its life-changing impact to many more communities nationwide.
