What Can Young Africans Actually Build?
Core Message:
Africa does not only need young people with potential; it needs young people who can convert that potential into products, businesses, initiatives, institutions, technologies and solutions.
The central idea
Potential is what you carry. Production is what you create with what you carry.
Many young Africans have ideas, talents, qualifications and dreams. But potential becomes valuable when it is developed, organized and converted into action.
5 Questions for Young Africans
1. What do I have? — Identify your talent, knowledge, skills and resources.
2. What problem can I solve? — Look around your community and identify real needs.
3. What can I build? Turn the idea into a product, service, organization or initiative.
4. Who can I build with? Develop relationships, partnerships and teams.
5. How can I make it sustainable? Create systems that can survive beyond your personal involvement.
The transformation
Potential → Skill → Idea → Action → Product → Impact → Institution → Legacy
The goal is not simply to inspire young people for one day.
The goal is to make them ask:
What will exist because I existed
Africa's future will not be built by our potential alone. It will be built by what we choose to create with that potential. We must move from dreaming about change to designing it, from discussing solutions to building them, and from being consumers of the future to becoming producers of the future
A university student can build far more than a business. They can build products, organizations, communities, intellectual property, networks and solutions to real problems.

1. A business — Start a small enterprise around a problem students or communities face.
2. A digital product — Build an app, website, platform, software tool or online service.
