ENTREPRENEURSHIP
Theme :Turning small capital into a sustainable business

It requires strategy, discipline, and vision — not just money. Many successful entrepreneurs like Sam Walton and John D. Rockefeller started small but built systems that lasted.

A practical roadmap to turn small capital to sustainable business.

1. Start With a Problem, Not a Product

Don’t ask, “What can I sell?”
Ask, “What problem can I solve?”

What do students struggle with?
What do market women need?
What services are in demand?
A business that solves a daily problem survives longer.

2. Start Small, But Start Smart

With small capital:
Begin with low overhead
Avoid renting expensive shops

Use social media marketing (WhatsApp, Instagram, TikTok)

Operate from home if possible

Example: Instead of opening a full restaurant, start with food delivery from home.

3. Focus on Cash Flow First

Profit is important, but cash flow keeps you alive.

Sell fast-moving goods
Avoid tying money in slow inventory
Offer prepaid services where possible
Rule: Cash in hand is better than profit on paper.

4. Reinvest, Don’t Chop Capital

MANY SMALL BUSINESSES COLLAPSE BECAUSE OWNERS MIX

Personal expenses
Business money

Pay yourself a small salary. Reinvest the rest into:
More stock
Better packaging
Marketing
This is how small grows into big
5. Build Trust and Reputation

TRUST IS CURRENCY,so be
Be consistent
Deliver quality
Keep promises
Treat customers well

A trusted small business grows faster than a rich unreliable one

6. Develop Systems Early

Even if it’s small:
Record daily sales
Track expenses
Keep simple account
Structure makes sustainability possible.

7. Learn, Improve, Innovate

Business growth stages:

1. Imitation – Copy a working idea
2. Iteration – Improve it
3. Innovation – Create your own unique system

You can start by selling what others sell, but add your own unique value.

8. Diversify Carefully

LEADERSHIP 2.0

Leadership has it root in your heart

Broadcasting and manifesting through your mind.

SOME LEADERSHIP STYLES

IMPOVERISHED STYLE( low people low task) here the leader has both a low concern for people and a low concern for the task. Those who would adopt this approach are typically "leader" who care mainly about themselves and are afraid of making mistakes.

PRODUCE OR PERISH STYLE (low people high task) be see which focus on the task with little on concern for people this style is after referred to as autocratic leader using

This style seek to control and dominate other a leader like this will commonly take the view that stuff should be grateful to employed and pad a salary motivation is after attempted through of punishment such as being fired which makes this dictatorial style . However the approach is not sustainable especially when follower's have the option to walk away.

MIDDLE ROAD STYLE (Mid people mid task) this is essentially an ineffective compromise. Some concern for task exist and equally for the people but it might be said that is not enough of either. Leaders adopting this behavioural methods try to address the needs of the task and that of their followers to some extent but do so without conviction, skill and insight. Which reduce their effectiveness.Leadership generally requires a good degree of authority and decisiveness so a style that lack these characteristics has much room for improvement.

TEAM STYLE( High people, high task)
This style combines a high concern for and involvement in they group with a string well organized and communicated focus on achieving the two .

Leaders who behave like this manage to blend concern for both people and organizational aims by using a collaborative teamwork approach. This involves considerable dialogue that enable the development of a shared ( not imposed) motivation to achieving the organizations goal.
To an extent the effectiveness of a Leader depends on whether his or her followers accepts or reject him or her as well as on the extent to which the followers have the ability and willingness to accomplish a specific task.
The key words are acceptance and readiness.

FOUR GROUP LEADERS INTO 4 STYLES OF LEADERSHIP

1. Leadership
2. Supporting.
3. Coaching.
4. Directing

Their theory assumes that each of these leadership styles can be effective, depending on the development level of the individual or people you are leading.

DIRECTING
The directing or telling leadership style is what they should be doing ( one - way communication).

📌 What to do
📌How to do it
📌Where to do it
📌When to do it

The giving of direction is followed by closely supervising performance.

COACHING
Coaching also called "Selling involves directly people but in a more supportive way. The leader now attempt to share the suggestions, ideas and opinions of his or her followers which translate to or two way communication. However the control of decision making remains with the leader.

DELEGATING
Delegating requires minimal direction and supervision. The leader enables by discussing problems with the followers and coming to agreement on the nature of the problem and decision making for addressing the problem is handled by the subordinates on their own show.

Good leaders according to Hersey and Blanchard must adapt their leadership style to the maturity and Willingness of their subordinate. This creates a new level a new of complexity for leaders, how thoroughly the willingness, motivations and abilities of the followers are considered can decide how successfully they will be led.

If you want to rob employees of their pride of workmanship, ask them to do something they cannot do.

Employees with some level of competence but a lack level of commitment, they won't be able to do the job without help.

Generally, those who have a high level of commitment will be eager to learn and be willing to takes direction. As employees grow in confidence and capability, top management may only have to observe performance and reinforce the positive.

WHAT IS YOUR LEADERSHIP STYLE

A leadership style reflect a distinctive behavior.

A style tends to contain what a particular leader has learnt from other leaders that severed as a role models and his style is influenced strongly by this experience.

The leadership style is affected by the purpose or goal of the leaders. Another influence which is often quite strong is the particular personality of the leader and the personality or capability of the followers or group being led .

AUTHORITARIAN VRS DEMOCRATIC LEADERSHIP

The two ends of the spectrum of leadership style range a focus on implementing specific task to a focus on the dynamics of human relationship.

Leaders who focus primary on getting specific task accomplished can be described as authoritarian leaders. whilst those who stress the development on interpersonal relationship may be viewed on democratic leaders.

Some leaders are able to incorporate both styles of leadership behavior depending upon which is appropriate to the situation. Leaders develop their primary style over time focus experience, education and training.

THE AUTHORITARIAN LEADER is all about control and managing the completion of tasks. Authoritarian leader often approach a situation with attitude that other people are innately unwilling to get involved and are basically unreliable.

They tend to use their power to dominant their followers. Most policies are determined by the leader. Decision making for the authoritarian leader is usually autocratic which means no input from others until after the decision is made. This after result in the lack of creative solutions to problems which can hurt the performance of the organization.

The authoritarian leader in an organization will tend to spend more time on management issues than on interpersonal relationship.

A danger in authoritarian leadership is the tendency toward negative motivation using threats, coercion and other non - reinforcing means to achieve result. This can erect a culture of crisis in the organization with the leader as either oppressor or rescuer or both.

THE DEMOCRATIC STYLE

The democratic style is at the other end of leadership spectrum. It assumes that the power of leader is granted by the group they are to lead and that people are basically self directed and creative. If they are motivated to do so. The democratic style of leadership therefore tends to be more participative. Policies evolve from group discussion and from a group decision making process. By sharing decision making and other responsibilities, the group is more likely to make full use of all the potential of its members and individual self esteem tends to increase. Furthermore the more that members participate in making the decision that affect them, have a clear picture of the goals of the group and have a recognized part to play in helping the group reach those goals.

The value of a cooperative efforts should not be minimized. Many management expert believe the wave of the future in management and leadership is individual empowerment, which recognize the abilities individuals posses and what they can and will do when involved with stand leadership an increased sense of ownership of plans and ideas.

URGENT CHANGE OF MINDSET

Mindset is the bedrock upon which every destiny is built either a glorious one or an impoverished one.

Mindset is the support system for self lifting.

You cannot exist without a mindset for by an intelligent personality's mindset was the earth birthed into being so all human beings needs a kind of mindset to survive.

The speakings of your mindset even transcend your death on earth and in the heavens.

Mindset can immortalized your presence on earth even after your physical or bodily death.

Some Africans mindset must needs urgent change especially across psychology, sociology, leadership, economics and culture.

A change from entitlement to value creation, consumption to production mindset.

A change from empowering us with only social knowledge in childhood to financial knowledge to promote wealth creation.

Celebrating of creators, builders, innovators and not only politicians and celebrities.

BELIEFS THAT NEEDS TO CHANGE.

1. Age automatically equals wisdom
2. Suffering is a sign of destiny or God's will
3. You must follow the career path of your family.
4. Respect means silence and obedience
5. Success attract enemies so don't stand out.

AFRICA MINDSET THAT NEEDS URGENT CHANGE

1. Delayed Greatness Mindset

This is the belief that success must come late in life, after many years of waiting, suffering, or paying dues

How it sounds

I will succeed someday, not now

Greatness is for old people
📌Effect

People postpone action.

Youth waste their most energetic years waiting instead of building.

Urgency, experimentation, and bold moves are lost.

Reality Greatness can start early and grow over time. Starting small early is not arrogance it’s wisdom.

2. permission seeking Mindset

This is the habit of waiting for approval from authority figures (parents, elders, bosses, society) before acting.

How it sounds

“Who gave you permission?”

Wait till you are chosen
📌Effect

Creativity is suppressed.
Leadership potential is delayed.
People remain dependent instead of becoming initiators.

Reality Most successful people acted before they were officially allowed.

3. Fear of Failure and Shame Mindset

This mindset sees failure as disgrace, not learning.

How it sounds

“What will people say if I fail?”
“It’s better not to try than to be embarrassed

📌Effect

Risk taking dies.
Innovation becomes rare.
People choose safety over growth.

Reality Failure is feedback. Shame culture turns lessons into lifelong fear.

4. certificate first Mindset

This is the belief that papers matter more than skills, value, or competence.

How it sounds

No certificate, no future

“Go to school first, then think.
📌Effect

Skilled but uncertified people feel useless.

Education becomes theoretical, not practical.

People wait for graduation instead of building experience.

Reality Certificates can open doors, but skills keep them open.

5. Scarcity and short term Mindset

This mindset assumes opportunities are limited, so one must grab quick gains instead of building long-term value.

How it sounds

If I don’t take it now, I’ll lose everything

Let me make fast money
📌Effect

Shortcuts replace strategy.
Corruption and exploitation increase.
Long-term planning is neglected.

Reality Abundance grows with patience, collaboration, and systems not desperation.

6. Spiritual Escape Mindset

This uses spirituality as a way to avoid responsibility, effort, or systemic thinking.

How it sounds

“God will do it; I don’t need to plan

“Pray instead of preparing
📌Effect

Personal responsibility is abandoned.

People wait for miracles instead of developing skills.

Faith replaces work rather than empowering it.

Reality Spirituality should inspire action, not replace it.

7. Follower Mindset

This is the tendency to wait for leaders instead of becoming one.

How it sounds
“Let them decide.
“We will follow whoever rises.
📌Effect

Talented people remain silent.

Bad leaders dominate due to lack of alternatives.

Collective progress slows.

Reality Every society needs thinkers, builders, and initiators not only followers.

8. Low Expectations Mindset from Society

This is when society expects little from certain groups, and people internalize it.

How it sounds

“People like us don’t succeed.
“This is our level.
📌Effect

Self limiting beliefs become normal.

Excellence feels abnormal or arrogant.

People shrink their dreams to fit stereotypes.

Reality Expectations shape outcomes. When society limits vision, individuals must expand it intentionally.

Final Insight 📝
These mindsets are learned, not inherited.
And what is learned can be unlearned.
