As communities recover, we must act urgently to prevent a cholera outbreak through improved sanitation, safe water, proper waste management, and good hygiene practices.

As part of the 2026 Ghana WASH Week celebration, Mission to Transform Lives International (MiTLI), in collaboration with the Ghana Education Service (GES), the Nkoranza North Environmental Health Unit, and NADMO, visited three schools in the Nkoranza North District to mark the occasion, on 25th June, 2026

The schools visited were Busunya Anglican Basic School, Busunya SDA Basic School, and Busunya RC JHS.

In line with the national theme, the team engaged pupils on Good Personal Hygiene Practices, with special emphasis on proper handwashing practices as an essential step toward preventing diseases and promoting healthy living.

A total of 545 pupils benefited from today’s educational outreach. The school authorities and pupils expressed their sincere appreciation for the impactful and timely message delivered.

MiTLI is deeply grateful to CONIWAS, especially the Middle Zone Team, for their technical support, encouragement, and commitment toward promoting good hygiene and sanitation practices in our communities.

Beyond Hope Foundation took the Ghana WASH WEEK CELEBRATION to Juaben Serwaa Market to sensitise the market on the need to use safely managed water supply, maintain good sanitation, and practice hygiene to help improve Good health and wellbeing. This took place at the Genesis Communication Centre, a facility that covers the whole market. The market Queens also took turns educating traders and the general public on the need to maintain good sanitation at the market and at home. Similar event took place at the Juaben Serwaa Market No.2.

In all about 800, we're directly reached with basic information on Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene, and also do well to prevent possible flooding by keeping waterways clear.

Beyond Hope Foundation was at Eastern FM, a local station in Koforidua to discuss matters related to the WASH WEEK CELEBRATION with emphasis on Flood Prevention in the two Municipalities.

A similar program took place at Bright FM with phone ins from the general public.

Ghana WASH Week 2026

Data is only useful if it reaches the people who can act on it.

Aquaya Institute has been monitoring drinking water quality in households, water points, schools, and healthcare facilities across Ghana and Uganda since 2022, generating evidence to better understand water safety and inform action.

As part of program closeout activities, Aquayan Daniel Kwaah visited communities in the Asutifi North and Wassa East Districts in Ghana to share water quality findings.

One clear finding: piped water systems and boreholes with handpumps consistently provided the safest water at the source. Community members also learned practical steps to keep drinking water safe at home, including using protected water sources, treating water when needed, storing it safely, and maintaining clean storage containers.
