The Ghana Health Service has officially launched National Family Planning Week and commemorated World Contraception Day 2026 through its Family Health Division.

The event was held under the theme: “A Choice for All: Agency, Intention, and Access” with the motto “It’s Your Life. It’s Your Future.”

The initiative reaffirms the importance of bodily autonomy, informed decision-making and access to family planning services as essential components of healthier families and national development.

According to Dr. Abigail Kyei, bodily autonomy and family planning are fundamental to national development.

A healthier Ghana starts with stronger nutrition policies!

The Ghana Health Service, together with World Vision Ghana, UNICEF, Civil Society Organizations and other key stakeholders, has engaged in a consultative meeting to review Ghana’s National Nutrition Policy.

The discussions focused on identifying gaps, addressing emerging nutrition challenges and generating practical recommendations to support the development of a stronger and more effective nutrition policy.

Together, we can build a healthier and better-nourished Ghana.

THROWBACK THURSDAY - YOUTH EMPOWERMENT AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP PROGRAM LAUNCH

We take a moment to reflect on the impactful launch of the Health For The Streets - Youth Empowerment Programme (H4DS-YEP) - a powerful platform that brought together health professionals, development partners, corporate stakeholders, community leaders, youth advocates, and other key players to share ideas, build partnerships, and explore sustainable solutions for healthier and more empowered communities.

The launch was more than an event; it was the beginning of a collective commitment to transforming lives through health, education, skills development, economic empowerment, and social inclusion.

A. Ideas were shared.
B. Partnerships were strengthened.
C. Solutions were explored.
D. A shared vision for sustainable impact was ignited.

H4DS-YEEP demonstrates what is possible when stakeholders come together with a common purpose: to invest in people, strengthen communities, and create opportunities that address the social and health challenges facing vulnerable populations.

As we look back, we also look forward-with an open invitation to investors, development partners, corporate organisations, institutions, and philanthropists who share our vision to join us in scaling this initiative and creating measurable, sustainable impact.

Strengthening Partnerships for Health, Youth Empowerment & Sustainable Impact

Public Health Alliance International Ghana (PHAIG), led by its Executive Director, Dr. Samuel Nuamah, held a strategic engagement with the World Health Organization (WHO) team at the Ghana Country Office to explore opportunities for collaboration and partnership.

The meeting focused on one of PHAIG’s flagship projects, Health for the Streets (H4DS) - Youth Empowerment and Entrepreneurship Programme (YEEP), with discussions centred on how the organization can specifically explore partnerships with the Health Promotion, Disease Prevention Cluster (HPDPC) to strengthen community-based health interventions, promote health equity, empower young people, and improve access to essential health and social services for underserved populations.

Beyond the H4DS Youth Empowerment Programme, the engagement also explored other possible areas for collaboration in public health promotion.

PHAIG remains committed to building evidence-informed partnerships that translate public health priorities into meaningful action and measurable impact within communities.

Together, we can achieve healthier, more empowered, and disease-resilient communities.
