As we celebrate World Autism Day, we acknowledge persons with autism as one of God’s wonderful creations. Imagine having the power to perceive things differently from others. It makes you special; it allows you to identify and appreciate things that others do not. That ability creates an amazing world for you and makes you exceptional at whatever you do because you see beyond what others see.

It is not surprising that persons with autism are among the most brilliant people on earth, making remarkable breakthroughs and discoveries. On this day, we are all encouraged to make room for persons with autism. Let’s accommodate their thought process, embrace their different ways of socializing, and create space for them to blossom.

We live in a society where children with challenges are stigmatized and disregarded in so many ways. Yes we have children with all forms of learning and behavioural challenges, yes we have families with children who have one challenge or the other. They are in our schools, work places, communities, churches and the like. These children and families need love and support. As we celebrate Ghana month, it is essential that we portray a Ghana where all children and families are loved regardless of the challenges they have, to be the best version of themselves.
