WA NAA REAFFIRMS SUPPORT FOR ROTARY, CALLS FOR INCREASED ATTENTION TO PROSTATE HEALTH

The Wa Naa, His Royal Majesty Fuseini Pelpuo IV, has reaffirmed the traditional leadershipโ€™s commitment to supporting Rotary District 9104 and the Rotary Club of Wa, while calling for increased attention to prostate health services for men in the community.

The assurance was given during a courtesy visit by the District Governor of Rotary District 9104, Rotarian Jack Andrews Dotsey, PhD, and his delegation, as part of the Governorโ€™s official visit to Wa.

His Royal Majesty acknowledged Rotaryโ€™s contributions to healthcare, access to clean water, and community development, assuring the delegation that the palace remained open to initiatives aimed at improving the wellbeing of the people.

A key highlight of the engagement was his appeal for Rotary to prioritise prostate health education, screening, and access to medical services, particularly for older men. He observed that while cervical cancer screening had featured in previous health outreach programmes, prostate health remained an important area requiring attention.

In response, DG Jack acknowledged the concern and assured the traditional leadership that further engagement would be facilitated through the President of the Rotary Club of Wa.

The District Governor also reiterated Rotaryโ€™s commitment to service beyond ethnic, religious, political, and professional boundaries, emphasising peace, fairness, goodwill, and mutual understanding as foundations for sustainable development.

As part of the visit, he presented His Royal Majesty with a framed copy of Rotaryโ€™s Four-Way Test, promoting truth, fairness, goodwill, and benefit to all.

The engagement strengthened the partnership between Rotary and traditional leadership, reaffirming a shared commitment to community wellbeing and sustainable humanitarian service.

ROTARY DISTRICT 9104 AND UBIDS EXPLORE STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP IN EDUCATION, RESEARCH AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT

The District Governor of Rotary District 9104, Rotarian Jack Andrews Dotsey, PhD, has led a delegation of Rotarians on a courtesy visit to the University for Business and Integrated Development Studies (UBIDS), Wa, where discussions focused on strengthening collaboration in education, research, healthcare, youth empowerment, and community development.

The delegation, led alongside the President of the Rotary Club of Wa, Dr. Eunice Yorgri, was received by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Emmanuel K. Derbile, and members of the University's management.

During the engagement, DG Jack highlighted Rotary's global network and its potential to facilitate academic exchanges, international institutional partnerships, research collaboration, grant opportunities, and capacity-building programmes. He also encouraged the University to explore opportunities in peace and conflict resolution education.

Professor Derbile acknowledged Rotary's historical contributions to the University and the wider region, particularly the provision of medical equipment and emergency support during the COVID-19 pandemic. He expressed the University's interest in developing a more structured and sustainable partnership with Rotary.

The University's appeal for support towards improving equipment at its medical clinic was also discussed, with the District Governor inviting a formal request through the Rotary Club of Wa for further consideration.

A significant highlight was the presentation of Rotary's Four-Way Test to the Vice-Chancellor as a framework for ethical leadership, integrity, fairness, and institutional governance. Professor Derbile was also recognised with Rotary's End Polio Now insignia and encouraged to champion awareness of the global polio eradication campaign.

The engagement further explored the possibility of hosting a regional edition of the Ghana New Year School in Wa, opening opportunities for policy dialogue, knowledge exchange, and regional development.

The courtesy call reaffirmed a shared commitment to combining academic expertise, international networks, and humanitarian service to advance development in the Upper West Region and Ghana.

Together, we are building partnerships that create lasting impact.

THE SOURCE: ROTARY CLUB OF AKOSOMBO DAM CITY

During his engagement with the Rotary Club of Akosombo-Dam City, District Governor Rotarian Dr. Jack Andrews Dotsey, PhD challenged the Club to embrace the significance of its identity and become a greater source of energy for Rotary and the communities it serves.

Drawing inspiration from the Akosombo Dam, the DG stated:

โ€œIf a dam holds the source of energy and power that drives the economy of a nation, then a Rotary Club situated in that city must similarly become a source of energy for Rotaryโ€™s development and impact.โ€
โ€” DG Jack Andrews Dotsey, PhD, speaking at the Rotary Club of Akosombo Dam City.

He commended the Club for its remarkable capacity, in just five years, to mobilize more than 20 Rotary Clubs from across Ghana to participate in health and medical outreach programmes.

He challenged the Club to channel this same energy into membership growth, youth development, leadership, partnerships and sustainable projects.

The DG further emphasized that the true value of a Rotary project is not simply its value at commissioning, but the lives it transforms and the impact it sustains over time.

As the Club moves forward under the 2026โ€“27 theme โ€œCreate Lasting Impact,โ€ the challenge is clear:

Be the SOURCE. Be the ENERGY. Be the IMPACT.
