Today is International Day of the Girl Child!

We celebrate the positive strides advocacy for Girl Child education has made in the last century.

However, we continue to advocate for a world where access to menstrual hygiene products will be affordable and accessible to all girls regardless of status, race or nationality.

We advocate for a world where girls do not have to miss school days due to lack of access to affordable sanitary products.

Period Products are not luxuries because menstruation is a normal biological process. Just as food is seen as a necessity, period products should be seen necessities.

On every sanitary product a 20 percent luxury tax and a 15 percent Value Added Tax is imposed on it. A tax imposed on a biological necessity.

A bill has been introduced in parliament to remove this tax burden.The removal of this tax will extend beyond finances.

It will improve health,education,gender equality and social justice for women in Ghana .
