The Petroleum Commission in Ghana was established in 2011, following the discovery of hydrocarbon resources in commercial quantities. The Commission's primary goal is to regulate and manage the utilization of petroleum resources, while coordinating policies in the upstream petroleum sector.

was the first CEO of the Petroleum Commission. He played a crucial role in shaping the Commission's policies and regulations from 2013 to 2017. took over as CEO from 2017 to 2025, focusing on local content development and Ghanaian participation in the petroleum industry.

In January 2025, ESQ. Abla Baëta has made history as the first woman to occupy the role of Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Petroleum Commission.

Congratulations to her on this remarkable achievement! We hope she paves the way for many women in the energy, oil, and gas sector.
