A remarkable milestone has been achieved in Apesokubi as we officially donated ultra-modern sports facilities to the J.E. Kearney Memorial R/C Primary School.
This school, constructed by ACECD in 2024, has already transformed access to quality basic education in the Biakoye District. With modern classrooms, a computer lab, proper sanitation facilities, a dining hall, kitchen, mini football pitch, and a safe learning environment for children from crèche to Grade Six, it stands as a true model for rural education.
The addition of a basketball court, volleyball court, and lawn tennis court, generously sponsored by the Kearney Family, further reinforces ACECD’s commitment to holistic education. The Oti Regional Director of the National Sports Authority described the facility as the first of its kind in the region, with the potential to host district and regional sporting events.
At the inauguration on 3rd January 2026, Rev. Fr. Dr. Richard Baafi, CEO of ACECD, emphasized the importance of nurturing both the mind and body. He also noted that given the right opportunities, the rural child can compete with the most privileged anywhere.
This initiative is not just about sports facilities; it is about equity, opportunity, and rewriting the story of rural education in Ghana.
