Ce matin à Lomé, la Convention africaine du transport aérien 2026 s'est ouverte sous la présidence de S.E. Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé, Président du Conseil de la République du Togo — en présence de S.E. Paul Kagame, Président du Rwanda et invité spécial, et de S.E. Olusegun Obasanjo, ancien Président du Nigeria.

De la cérémonie d'ouverture au panel de haut niveau, une même conviction : la ZLECAf est l'ambition phare d'un continent décidé à ouvrir un nouvel horizon de mobilité pour ses populations.

Le Secrétaire Général de la ZLECAf, S.E. Wamkele Mene, en a porté le message : le marché est bâti, et ce qui le transforme en mouvement, c'est la connectivité et la circulation plus libre des Africains qui commercent.

« Nous ne parlons pas de résidence permanente. Nous parlons de permettre à un entrepreneur africain de se rendre dans un autre pays, d'y faire des affaires et de rentrer chez lui — sans avoir à faire la queue pour un visa », a-t-il déclaré.

Car un ciel unique n'est possible que dans le cadre d'un marché unique.

This morning in Lomé, the African Air Transport Convention & Expo 2026 opened under the patronage of H.E Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé, President of the Council of the Republic of Togo, with H.E. Paul Kagame, President of the Republic of Rwanda as Special Guest of Honour, and H.E. Olusegun Obasanjo, former President of Nigeria, among the distinguished guests.

A clear message emerged from the opening ceremony and high-level discussions: Africa’s economic integration requires greater connectivity, mobility and the removal of barriers that continue to fragment the continent.

Addressing the high-level roundtable, AfCFTA Secretary-General H.E. Wamkele Mene emphasized that connectivity and the temporary movement of businesspersons are critical to unlocking the full benefits of the AfCFTA:

“We are not talking about permanent residence. We are talking about letting an African entrepreneur travel to another country, do business, and return home — without queuing for a visa.”

The vision is clear: one integrated market supported by seamless connectivity.

One Market. One Sky.

Un accord commercial ne vaut que par ce qu'il produit.

En deux jours à Tunis, le Secrétaire Général de la ZLECAf, S.E.M. Wamkele Mene, est reparti avec trois choses : un partenariat approfondi avec le Gouvernement tunisien, un plan d'action resserré, et une conviction — pour la Tunisie, le continent est désormais ouvert aux affaires.

A trade agreement is only worth what it delivers.

In two days in Tunis, the Secretary-General of the AfCFTA, H.E. Wamkele Mene, came back with three things: a partnership deepened with the Government of Tunisia, a focused action plan, and one conviction - for Tunisia, the continent is now open for business.

The details- from market identification to payment systems, corridors and the forums ahead- are in the official statement.

"The AfCFTA is no longer a negotiation. It is an operating reality, and Tunisia is among the countries proving it works."

Deuxième journée de la visite officielle du Secrétaire Général de la , S.E.M. Wamkele Mene, en Tunisie : un dialogue de haut niveau avec le secteur privé tunisien, au Tunisia Export - Centre de Promotion des Exportations CEPEX, précédé d'un entretien avec le Ministre du Commerce et de la Promotion des exportations.

Le message du Secrétaire Général aux entreprises est clair : c'est leur engagement, et non la seule signature des États, qui rend la commercialement signifiante. La première tâche ? Identifier les marchés — ceux d'Afrique vers lesquels la Tunisie peut exporter, et ceux dont elle peut importer.

Que les produits tunisiens atteignent l'Afrique, et les produits africains la Tunisie.

Pour y parvenir, des outils concrets : le système de paiement Pan-African Payment And Settlement System - PAPSS, qui permet de régler en monnaie locale et de réduire les coûts de transaction, et les instruments numériques de connectivité d'affaires et d'intelligence de marché.

Day two of the official visit of the Secretary-General of the , H.E. Wamkele Mene, to Tunisia: a high-level dialogue with the Tunisian private sector at the Tunisia Export - Centre de Promotion des Exportations CEPEX, preceded by a meeting with the Minister of Trade and Export Promotion.

The Secretary-General's message to business was clear: it is their engagement, not the signature of States alone, that makes the AfCFTA commercially meaningful. The first task? Identifying markets — those in Africa to which Tunisia can export, and those from which it can import. Tunisian products reaching Africa, and African products reaching Tunisia.

The tools to get there are concrete: the Pan-African Payment And Settlement System - PAPSS, enabling settlement in local currency and cutting transaction costs, and digital instruments for business connectivity and market intelligence.

Closing his official visit to Tunisia, the AfCFTA Secretary-General reframed Tunisia’s strong European export orientation as a reserve of growth, not a constraint. Tunisia has a whole continent to win.

Deuxième jour de la visite officielle du Secrétaire général de la ZLECAf, S.E.M. Wamkele Mene, en Tunisie : dialogue de haut niveau avec le secteur privé tunisien au CEPEX, précédé d’un entretien avec M. Samir Abid, ministre du Commerce et du Développement des exportations.
