Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom South Caucasus

Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom South Caucasus “Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom South Caucasus” aims to promote ideas of Freedom and Democracy in the region by strengthening civil society.

The Friedrich Naumann Foundation (German: Friedrich-Naumann-Stiftung für die Freiheit) (FNF) is a German foundation for liberal politics. Established in 1958 by Theodor Heuss, the first president of the Federal Republic of Germany, it promotes individual freedom and liberalism. The Foundation follows the ideals of Friedrich Naumann who was leading German liberal thinker and politician at the begi

nning of the last century. He resolutely backed the idea of civic education because he believed that a functioning democracy needed politically informed and educated citizens. According to him, civic education is a prerequisite for political participation and thus for democracy.

“Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom South Caucasus” aims to promote ideas of Freedom and Liberalism in the region by strengthening civil society and non-governmental organizations who share foundations values and goals. We believe that dialogue and cooperation are key to long term stability and development in the region.

The landmark EU-Armenia Summit (May 4-5) has officially concluded, This high-level conference is currently bringing together nearly 40 heads of state—including the EU’s Ursula von der Leyen and António Costa, Canadian PM Mark Carney (making a historic first-time appearance), and, president of France, Macron and President Zelenskyy—to discuss the future of global peace, democracy, and economic growth.

https://www.consilium.europa.eu/en/meetings/international-summit/2026/05/04-05/eu-armenia/

Some of the statements from the summit:

💬 António Costa (President of the European Council):
"A stable and prosperous South Caucasus is the bedrock of Armenia's future, and the European Union will continue to support the regional peace and normalisation processes, working along with you to build that future together"

💬 Emmanuel Macron (President of France):
“I would like the Armenian moment to also become the moment of the entire Caucasus. I have two convictions. First, the south Caucasus should not be an arena for the competition of empires, and second, the region can become a crossroads between Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
“For this, it is necessary to open the borders. I hope that our neighbours will show the same courage as you and follow the path of peace, democracy and prosperity.
“The borders must be fully opened, including with Azerbaijan and Turkey, and they must also operate without restrictions with Georgia.”
