Need to describe something in your IELTS test? ๐Ÿคท

Try using verbs of the senses.

It + verb + adjective

e.g. It tastes sour.

It + verb + like + noun

e.g. It looks like a little yellow rugby ball.

It + verb + as though + clause

e.g. It feels as though itโ€™s covered in lots of bumps.

(Yes, weโ€™re describing a lemon. ๐Ÿ‹)

Can you describe the object in the picture using these structures? โœ๏ธ

Is English becoming the global standard for vocational and technical skills?

Our research suggests a shift in student priorities.

๐Ÿ“ˆ Since 2019, English-taught programmes in non-traditional markets have grown by 48%.

๐Ÿ’ป In emerging education hubs, 73% of undergraduate English-taught programmes are now in computer science and IT.

For many students, English is no longer simply a subject to study. It is increasingly seen as a practical skill that provides access to international knowledge, professional standards and global careers.

As students place greater emphasis on employability and future opportunities, what does this mean for higher education institutions?

Countering gendered disinformation takes more than awareness.

It takes evidence, education, responsible media, strong civil society and public policies that recognise the real harm caused by online abuse and false narratives.

This was the focus of the final international G-LENS conference, โ€˜Citizen Engagement and Exchange of Good Practicesโ€™, held on Thursday 14 May 2026 in Warsaw.

Organised by Fundacja British Council in Poland, as part of the G-LENS project, the conference created space for partners from across Europe to share research, exchange good practice and develop recommendations for cross-sector action.

The programme included discussions on gender-equal digital futures, legal frameworks, media responsibility and policy recommendations for more inclusive and resilient societies.
