Inside the glove box of Renee Nicole Good’s car were small stuffed animals, soft and harmless, the kind meant to comfort a child. She was 37 years old. She had just dropped her young son at school and was moving through what should have been an ordinary morning.
Renee was a mother before anything else. She was raising three children and had already endured deep loss. Her former husband, a military veteran and the father of her youngest child, passed away in 2023. Since then, she had been doing her best to hold everything together for her children, especially her little boy, who depended on her for safety and love.
She was also a writer and a poet, someone who paid attention to people and their stories. She wrote with empathy, often focusing on lives very different from her own. She loved music and singing, studied creative writing, and earned recognition for her poetry. Even during difficult seasons of her life, she kept learning, creating, and caring for others.
Neighbors remembered her as gentle and warm. She smiled easily, spoke kindly, and made people feel seen. Her home carried signs of family life, children’s drawings, and small moments of joy. Faith and compassion shaped the way she lived, and she believed deeply in kindness.
On that morning, after doing nothing more than taking her child to school, Renee lost her life. She left behind a son who had already lost his father and now must grow up without his mother. What remains are the quiet truths — the stuffed animals meant for comfort, the words she wrote, and the love she gave freely to those around her.
