ONE WEEK NOTICE! Three IPOS World Congress Scholarships – Apply by April 7

These scholarships are open to any professional employed by a hospital, healthcare facility, non-government organization or university in a low-to-middle-income (LMIC) country, providing psychosocial care in an oncology setting or undertaking research in the field of psycho-oncology. The scholarship recipients are expected to share key learnings from their attendance at the IPOS Congress with colleagues upon return to their home country, thus furthering the practice and research of psycho-oncology in LMICs. The scholarship is open to nominees of all levels of experience and is assessed based on their achievements relative to opportunity and the potential impact on the recipient’s local community.

The THREE scholarships being offered are:

FIRST PLACE: Andrea Patenaude IPOS Scholarship (valued at $5,000 USD)

SECOND PLACE: Carolyn Messner Congress and Membership Scholarship

THIRD PLACE: Matthew Loscalzo Congress Scholarship

To submit, please complete the ONLINE IPOS nomination form. Have the four items below ready when submitting your online nomination:

1. Personal statement from nominee outlining the potential impact of the award on the recipient’s local community, their achievements and their intentions to implement key learnings into their community.

2. One letter of recommendation from a health professional known to the applicant specifying why the nominee meets the award description above.

3. Résumé/CV in English

2026 Conference Recap — Contemporary Challenges in Oncology: Patient Needs and Multidisciplinary Care Strategies

On March 7, a multidisciplinary conference “Contemporary Challenges in Oncology: Patient Needs and Multidisciplinary Care Strategies” was held in Tbilisi, Georgia. The conference brought together medical and radiation oncologists, surgeons, pathologists, radiologists, psychiatrists, psychologists, and oncology nurses. This was the first event of its kind in the country, bringing together specialists from different fields of oncology to share knowledge and discuss patient care from a multidisciplinary perspective.

THREE IPOS World Congress Scholarships – Apply by April 7

We are pleased to report that we have added two new bursaries to attend the 2026 IPOS World Congress in Barcelona! That means we now have THREE AVAILABLE!

This is open to all those who submit for the 5th Annual Andrea Patenaude IPOS Scholarship!

These scholarships are open to any professional employed by a hospital, healthcare facility, non-government organization or university in a LMIC providing psychosocial care in an oncology setting or undertaking research in the field of psycho-oncology. The scholarship recipients are expected to share key learnings from their attendance at the IPOS Congress with colleagues upon return to their home country, thus furthering the practice and research of psycho-oncology in LMICs. The scholarship is open to nominees of all levels of experience and is assessed based on their achievements relative to opportunity and the potential impact on the recipient’s local community.

The nominee shall provide a personal statement outlining how they meet these criteria and their ability to implement key learnings into everyday practice upon return. The successful recipient is expected to provide a brief report for inclusion in the IPOS newsletter outlining the impact of the scholarship for their local community.

The THREE scholarships being offered are:

FIRST PLACE: Andrea Patenaude IPOS Scholarship (valued at $5,000) that includes:

• FREE 2026 World Congress Registration (IPOS will process registration of winner) - value of up to $1,000 USD.

• Travel Reimbursement for up to $2,000 USD: this includes return economy-class airfare (winner is to book their own flight and submit for reimbursement within 30-days AFTER the congress)

• 5 Nights Accommodation (booked and paid for by IPOS) - value of up to $2,000 USD.

• A one-year IPOS membership (2026 OR 2027).

SECOND PLACE: Carolyn Messner Congress and Membership Scholarship:

• $2,000 scholarship to attend the 2026 World Congress.

• A one-year IPOS membership (2026 OR 2027).

THIRD PLACE: Matthew Loscalzo Congress Scholarship:

• $2,000 scholarship to attend the 2026 World Congress.
